Vision of the Seas

13 Night Transatlantic Westbound (Barcelona To Miami)

Sail date: September 27, 2019

Ship: Vision of the Seas

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

Although we ended the cruise with 7 sea days (due to Hurricane Lorenzo) we enjoyed the entire cruise and how relaxing it was. Hated to leave the ship even though we had been on board a total of 25 nights. Will definitely book another crossing in the future.

Embarkation

I was on a back to back cruise and the process was extremely smooth and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room and specialty restaurants were very good but the buffet food was cold in some instances and there wasn't enough variety at breakfast and lunch. Dinner had several theme nights at the buffet but I only ate there one night during the 13 nights. That evening the food was good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Rock Climbing wall - usually not crowded. Only waited 10 minutes to climb.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were okay. Enjoyed the magician a lot.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Lucky was wonderful. We let him know the 1st day that we are big coffee drinkers and he made sure we always had supplies to make our coffee. As well, we like having plenty of ice available for drinks and he made sure the ice bucket was kept full. Our wait staff Vibhav and Artem did a great job at dinner. We were on My-Time dining and during the previous cruise of our back to back we had the gentlemen as our wait staff. When we came to dinner the 1st night of this cruise we requested to sit in their area again.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This is an older, smaller ship but we love it. This was our 5th cruise on Vision. Common areas are clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This is a 2 bedroom suite. Since we were traveling as a couple it was more than we needed but we really enjoyed having a separate living space from the bedroom. Nice large room with a couch and 3 chairs. Plenty of room to have friends drop by for a little get together. Cabin is clean but is ready for some updates.

Ship tip

I don't recommend this ship for children. There are some activities for them but not a lot like larger ships.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
We spent 4 days here prior to our cruise. We visited the popular sites on our own and spent hours walking the city. Very enjoyable.

Malaga, Spain

Caves of Nerja- We enjoyed the tour of the caves. There are over 400 steps and inclines inside the caves so be prepared and make sure you are capable of walking and climbing.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
A Stroll through Lisbon - beautiful walk through Lisbon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided details about the city in its early days and in current days. Lots of uphill walking.

Ponta Delgada, Azores Did not visit port

Hurricane Lorenzo decided to hit the Azores so our ship had to skip this port and head south.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We did not get off the ship. Have been here several times and there wasn't anything we wanted to do.

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
No excursion. Departed the ship and took a taxi to the airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As a suite guest you have the opportunity to be escorted off the ship by the Suite Concierge so it is a fast easy departure from the ship.
