Review summary

We made these these reservations in July so we could go on a trip of a lifetime for our 50 th wedding anniversary. We drove from Arizona to New Orleans to board the ship. Unfortunately I called Royal Caribbean ahead of time to make sure we had all the information We needed.I was told all we needed was a Drivers license Issued in the United States. They imformed us we couldn’t board without a passport. We didn’t have one. They would not refund our cruise money or our $140 parking money. They had us two people that in our 70s out of the building. We got back in our car and drove back to Arizona devastated .They also denied every talking to us about the drivers license. This surgery rating is not correct. The rating should be I star.

Not RCCLs fault, but entirely yours. There is no way RC told you you only need a driver's license to board. You need that AND a certified birth certificate or a valid passport. You are out of luck getting any refund. Hard lesson to learn. Do your research BEFORE you board.

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/united-states-citizen-travel-documentation Just gonna leave this here direct from the website. You need both your license and an original birth certificate when sailing from a US port. It even says at the bottom that refunds will not be issued to passengers that fail to bring the correct documentation. Honestly it sounds like you’re a little bitter because you didn’t do the appropriate amount of research - and this information is not hard at all to find on their website. I’m sorry you lost out on time and money, but that’s not Royal Caribbean’s fault.

I only use my ID and Birth Certificate.. you should have been able to use those two and been fine

Found this app to leave a bad review but couldn’t find simple information to have everything needed to board. I feel the full story is not being told because it’s a very known topic and not hard to find the correct answer.

I would consider following up first of all with someone higher up with RC. Keep all of your paperwork for sure. This seems very wrong. People cruise without a passport. Did you happen to have a copy of your birth certificate? That is usually required. Best of luck to you.

OMG... that is sad. Hopefully you’ll give cruising another chance, so worth it.
