This was a great cruise. Small ship was wonderful! Didnât walk yourself to death to get somewhere. Cruise director Steve had more energy than I have ever seen! Friendly, attentive staff. Negative - No coffee pot in the room, wish they had a popcorn machine for snacks, toilet paper was like tissue paper!
Embarkation

The computers went down as we were trying to get registered. We were lucky enough to be at the counter when this happened. It took about 20-30 minutes to get them up and running again. I have a pinched nerve in my back and standing is not fun! I can walk pretty well, but standing is a killer. So glad I could at least lean on the counter as we waited. The line behind us really got long during this time. I will say this, the staffâs attitude was super! They said, âOur computers are down but our attitude is up!!â They meant it too. We stood and talked to the cutest lady while they were fixing the problem.

Food and Dining

My husband and I donât like dressing up on the cruise and we prefer the Windjammer cafe for our meals. It is a huge buffet line with lots to choose from. Windows all around make for a very nice dining experience.

Smaller ship and we loved it. We didnât have to walk 3 miles to the dining room, etc. Everything was always being cleaned and attended to.
Cabin / Stateroom

We loved our cabin. We normally get a balcony but decided to try out the ocean view on this trip and we were very pleased. We had our room steward to split the beds and this gave lots of walking space in the cabin and we were able to walk right up to the window and look out. The layout of the room was very good. Lots of storage and the makeup mirror at the dressing table was terrific. The bathroom was also laid out nicely. Our room steward, Don, was fantastic. We wished we had a coffee pot in the room but we ordered coffee delivered to the room each morning and this helped get our heart started to be able to go up to breakfast!
Ship tip
We had the perfect cabin (4570). This was on the 4th floor and it was high up enough not to be disturbed by chains rattling when we docked in the mornings. This cabin was in the center of the ship and it seemed more stable than at either end of the ship. We had rough seas going down to Mexico and in the Windjammer (front of the ship) and also the Scooner bar at the rear of the ship was rocking a lot more than our room. Our room was about 4 cabins down from the Centrum bar and lounge. There was always something going on in this area. We loved being so close to the action. We brought the allotted 2 bottles of wine on board and this made it handy to refill our glasses as we enjoyed the various entertainment.
We love Galveston! We spent one night before the cruise and we spent 3 nights after the cruise. So much to see and do in Galveston. Great places to eat, shop, and tour. Something for everyone.
We got off the boat and walked around the little shops and had a beer in an outdoor bar. Some folks went on the beach. Not a lot to do but it was good to get off the ship for a little bit.
We got off the boat and walked around the little shops and had a beer at Margaritaville. We enjoyed seeing the local dancers beating the drums and dancing under the pavilion. We bought some booze here and then we had to leave it with the gal at a desk as we got back on the ship. They delivered it to our room the last night. When we got off the ship and went through customs the last stop was at the table where you must declare the booze you purchased. They taxed us on the booze at this time. We didnât have to pull it out of our suitcase nor did we have to show a receipt. We werenât sure if they back checked the records of the ship since we had to declare everything we were bringing on board. We were honest as we checked out and paid the tax.
We chose to carry our luggage off the ship. It is a pretty long walk to customs but things went pretty fast once we hit the customs line. You could choose to leave your bag out by your room by 11 the night before and they would get it to the custom area for you. Since I needed lots of my stuff the next morning I didnât want to give up my suitcase. Donât know how that worked for the others.
