Review summary

The service on the ship was top notch. Clean ship. However, would have enjoyed this cruise more if there were more excursions (many were booked up first day) for active people and had the food in free dining areas been better. We are in our fifties, and we were one of the youngest people on board, so it seems excursions and activities are geared towards a less active, quiet crowd. The 3 premium restaurants are good, especially Chops and Giovanni's. Internet service offered by the ship (for a fee) isn't too fast. Cell service was good at all the ports.

Embarkation

Fast. Got there in last 15 minutes of boarding time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in buffet and main dining room was below average with fewer choices on buffet than we had seen on other (larger) ships. Food in premium restaurants was great.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Observed dancing classes daily. People were very involved with those. Went to karaoke one night. Only one person sang. Used fitness center. Too cold for outdoor pool area. Enclosed pool area was a popular place so finding seating was challenging.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Band Rookie was awesome. Ship's production team was average--one of the four singers was outstanding. Comedians were pretty good. Didn't care to see ventriloquist show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward and bar service was terrific.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean. Ship was easy to get around due to smallish size. Not luxurious like the newer ships we've been on, but nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Good size room with full sofa. Shower and balcony were small. Bed was too firm for me but my spouse didn't have an issue with it. Only one outlet. Fortunately we brought a USB multi port charging station.

Ship tip

If you enjoy smaller size ships and an older crowd, this is a good one. Look for a bigger ship if you like a lot of options for food, entertainment, active excursions, etc.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

We chose to go one day early and stay in NYC, always a fun place. Taxi ride to port was over $100 one-way.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Excursions to Kennebunkport were booked up, but found one through internet. Was worth it! Pretty town with beautiful flowers. Got to see Bush estate.

Rockland, Maine

4 out of 5
The trip to Camden is a must. Very cute town and harbor.

Bar Harbor, Maine

4 out of 5
Lots of shops and pretty harbor. Excursion to Acadia National Park was disappointing--only one stop and didn't get to see Cadillac Mountain.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Went to scenic Peggy's Cove. Not much to do there, but great for photographs.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Nothing much in town. Trip to Highland Village was nice, but needed more stops to make it worth the travel time. Everything is at least one-2 hours away.

Corner Brook, Newfoundland

3 out of 5
Excursion to Gros Morne National Park was booked up. Did Captain Cooks Trail.

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
Old Town looks and feels like Europe. Loved it.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized.
