Review summary

I have read a good deal of negative reviews regarding this particular ship and her crew.  Some are warranted, others are a result of unrealistic expectations - RCCL is not Crystal.  That being said, I would say that I found the food on board to be adequate in the regular dining room and the Windjammer.  The specialty restaurants were each outstanding.  Giovanni's Table was especially good.  The food service crew were constantly offering 1/2 off deals at the specialty restaurants, so wait till you get on board to book.  Our cabin steward was perfect.  Friendly and efficient.  

 

Onboard entertainment was not as bad as many have said.  Some was kinda corny, but the effort was appreciated.  There were some good shows.  

 

Many of the crew seemed tired, but I find this is often the case with RCCL.  I choose them because I have never been on an RCCL cruise with a mechanical disaster, or a noro-virus episode.  I consider the boat to be a means of transportation.  Any enjoyment I find while on board is a bonus.  It truly astounds me how many people I hear on board making the most ridiculous complaints.  I was unaware, until this cruise, that if you book a suite, your luggage should be delivered within 10 minutes, and if it is not, you will most certainly loose your cell phone as a result.  And that is the girl at the guest services fault.  She is also responsible for the weather, it would seem.  

 

Reasonable expectations lead to enjoyable times.  All in all, this was an enjoyable trip on a ship in need of a rest and rehab. The ports of call were fantastic.  Alla Tours provided us with many memorable experiences while off the boat.  Incidentally, the ADA does not require European states to install elevators in 500 year old castles.  Just saying.  American tourists can make themselves look so silly.  Please read the description of your shore tours.  If you are physically unable to enjoy the excursion, avoid it.  Making everyone else on the excursion miserable with constant complaints is rude.
