Viking Sea

14 Night Into The Midnight Sun (London To Bergen)

Sail date: July 24, 2018

Ship: Viking Sea

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

We were actually shocked at the number of non ambulatory passengers. All of the included tours were slowed down as usually there were two of these passengers per bus. We were not expecting that at all. It would be better if they had these passengers step aside as they unloaded the buses. Many of the non-ambulatory passengers had to climb stairs to get on and off the ship. That could take a long time. There was no option of getting off on a lower deck, so I actually felt badly for these passengers, who struggled to get up and down the stairs.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Arrived in London and getting from the airport to Greenwich was a long bus ride and then many lines before getting the tender to get on the ship. I suggested that next time they process the people on the long bus ride

On our very first excursion a woman in a wheelchair required assistance to get back on the bus. Apparently the driver helped her up but didn’t stay with her. She then fell backwards off the bus receiving a significant cut to her head and had to be transported via ambulance. The bus left without the woman and her husband. This was very unfortunate and I’m sure ruined their whole trip. I agree that there should be more information and tighter parameters regarding mobility for excursions for the comfort and safety of all passengers.

I think it might be helpful if Viking was more specific about the level of mobility necessary for excursions. I can’t imagine it feels good to be on a cruise or excursion and to not be able to participate fully. Is it OP selfish? It could seem that way. But perhaps this is a once in a lifetime trip for them. Maybe they have specific time schedule and if they miss their appointment they lose their money and excursion. It’s important for everyone to try to get along when traveling as a large group.

We arrived so early we did not have embarkation problems and never had problems with any servers but we agree with you 100 percent on everything else you wrote. We were also very shocked.
