Review summary

In a word Fabulous.  Although there was a low water level situation in all of Europe in almost major rivers that we went through, Viking ( not their fault water is low )  made the transition seamless.  Yes, we have to change ship twice and it entailed packing and unpacking,  But Viking, for the first time in their history, made sure that the same crew came with us until the end of the tour.  We have the same Program Director, all the dining staff, and the Room Stewards. Concierge and Front Desk people.  Their services were impeccable and utterly professional.  The passengers had no cause for complaints.  Viking even gave us a 15% voucher for a future cruise, a free Vienna Chamber Music concert.  I sure am going to use Viking again,  Tip:  Viking has the world's largest fleet of river ships.  In case of need of ship swapping, there would always be available similar ships to use,  What more could you ask ?

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
excellent buffet breakfast with omelet station, Lunch and Dinner are delicious regional food and some very excellent staples like prime rib eye, salmon and a vegetarian fare. The portions are just sufficient, and unlimited drinks.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
this is a river cruise. since no sea days, everyone who went to the shore excursions daily were too tired to be up for any onboard activities or much entertainment at night.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
some performers came up to sing, dance and play instrument,. Oh also a fabulous Glass Blower and some pretty stuff we were able to buy.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
no children on the cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very professional and courteous and do everything for an impeccable service. The program director Rob Wheatly is so good in his job, with a fantastic personality.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
spanking new, clean and grand, Classy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
In river cruising, lower level stateroom is perfectly fine. Our room is ten steps to the stairs going to the dining area, Since there are no sea days and you go out everyday for shore excursions, there is no time to enjoy a drink in the veranda or balcony, Besides, river ports are smaller and a lot of times, ships are docked parallel to each other, you can't open even the curtain because the passengers in the next ship will be able to see into your cabin. You saved a lot of money , towards your next river cruise.

Ship tip

We didn't board Viking Mimir, because of low water level in Europe. Instead we boarded Viking Eistla, then Viking Baldur, then Viking Emla. They are all Longships, spanking new, clean and superbly efficient. in common bathrooms, they use cotton towels for drying hands. Fabulous.
