Review summary

It was nice, but not worth $36K. Viking air arrangements were also not good. In order to leave SFO with the couple we were sailing with on the same flight, we had to pay an additional $1850 a piece for the business class seats we had already paid for. Returning, we were also unable to return on same flights so we just went separately. I doubt if we will ever go on another river cruise.

River boats just can't commpete with ocean cruises; still, they try hard. Meals are ok, but never over the top.

We had trivia a couple of nights; otherwise, it was a few locals coming on board to perform. Again, most nights we went to bed early.

Kari was reasonable considering the small size of the boat. Heimdal was just the opposite. We had two rooms (same room number on both boats) but they were completely different. Only two drawers on the Heimdal vs 8 on the Kari. Only two 110 outlets on both creating a lot of hassle with today's essentials. The internet often didnt' work and the seletion of movies, etc. was miserable. putting the life preservers under the bed at the head of the bed make them very difficult to get to.

See above. The ship cabin steward did an excellent job in cleaning both boats.

Ship tip

Don't go on the Heimdal. We've been on 4 Viking river boats, this was the worst.
