Pick a cabin in the middle of the ship, not to far back, not too far forward.

Remember you can ask for robes, they are not in the rooms. Also, bring some wine on board, it will fit in your fridge and theres no corkage fee.

We were to sail on the Kara but our ship was changed to the Viking Hlin, which is exactly similar to the Kara.

Seats for dinner on the small open deck area behind the lounge are extremely limited, and competition was stiff. If you can swing it, though, this is really the only way to get a table for two.

Ship was in nice shape, had been on an emerald river cruise which seemed better overall.

Make sure you bring adequate winter gear for any winter trip. There were several passengers who dressed for warmer weather and they were not comfortable.

The only issue was that the house wine they served was the same bottle (maker, type, and vintage) every night, so we chose to buy and bring our bottles bought in town to the table instead. They do offer special wines every night but not a good value. Viking does not charge a corkage fee in the din, which is a bonus.
