Review summary

I am thoroughly impressed with Viking and don't know how I would ever be persuaded to try another river cruise line. Hubby and I have booked our third one for next spring and are very excited to visit France on board a viking ship!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Not a single bump in the process! Hubby and I were met at the airport by the most friendly Viking staff members who helped us into ground transportation and on to our ship which was docked with the most gorgeous view in Budapest! Checked in without a hitch and enjoyed a delicious lunch on the Aquavit!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Not a single disappointing meal. Everything was perfection and beautifully presented by the most accommodating chef and servers! They truly do everything in their power to make sure meals are to your liking.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainers and lecturers held our attention and gave us pure joy. Learning about the region as we traveled up river was wonderful. The Opera was so much fun and it had nothing to with my husband being drafted to play a role! OK, well, not a large part!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All I can say is that the staff does everything they can to make your experience an amazing one!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Well working, well maintained, beautiful design and exceptionally clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean, well maintained and lots of storage.

Ship tip

When you've been traveling for more than a day, you're exhausted and want a shower, after the captain welcomes you aboard and tells everyone you can go downstairs to the restaurant, you can actually stay upstairs in the lounge and Aquavit to have a lighter fare and avoid the crowds before you crash! It is heavenly!

What a beautiful city! The tour guide was so informative and helpful as he showed us around both Buda and Pest!

Vienna, Austria

A lovely city. Amazing history, but a little too contrived for mine and my husband's tastes.

Krems, Austria

Passau, Germany

One of my favorite cities! Our tour guide was the best we've ever had!

Regensburg, Germany

What a neat German town! We just loved walking these very old streets!

Main/Danube Canal Transit Did not visit port

Nuremberg, Germany

5 out of 5
The history of Nuremberg is fascinating. Getting to see up close many of the places only read about in history books. The Nazi Party Rally Grounds, the court house where the Nuremberg trials were held. WOW! Then you have the Nuremberg Castle and St Sebaldus Church...beautiful.

Disembarkation

Smooth as always. Viking transferred us to our hotel in Prague. A bit of a bus ride, but provided some history and information and enough quiet time and eye masks to catch a few much needed zzzzz's
