Review summary

I have been on many cruises; but this is the only one that did not offer Arabica coffee. Moreover, I felt personally insulted to pay $350 extra to get a wine list that featured only under $10/bottle wines--how stupid do they think their guests are?

Embarkation

2 out of 5
I am booked my air through Viking--that turned out to be a big mistake. Six months after I booked my cruise they sent us our airline connections: 17 hours from departure to arrival

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
How cheap does a cruise line have to be to serve only robusta coffee? Like many, I start my day with coffee; arabica is so ubiquitous, I had forgotten how bad robusta is. Moreover, the only "cream" they had was 1% milk. I always have wine with dinner at home; so to avoid disappointment I paid for the $350/cabin alcohol upgrade. Even that couldn't overcome Viking's miserliness; I had never seen such an extensive list of mediocrities--they were essentially all under $10 a bottle at liquor stores.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff did their best to offset Vikings stinginess; the maître d' even went ashore to buy some half-and-half for our coffee.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was attractive, comfortable and clean; but quite small.

Ship tip

I would not sail on Viking again, nor recommend it to anyone.
