Review summary

All our hotel stays were exceptional. Shore excursions, except for Flying Tiger Museum, were inspirational. We signed up for the Pre and Post Additions and they were a great addition to our trip. The people we meet were all welcoming and went the extra mile to help us make many memories. My favorite places were Lijiang, Xian, Shanghai, and Beijing. Can not recommend the Emerald as a Luxury Ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and went very smooth. We did have the Pre Addition so we went straight to hotel to ship. I king took care of all the luggage transfers which made things so much easier.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Emerald only had one dinning option. For a Luxury Line my expectations were not meet. I expected more variety of food selection as well as beauty in the presentation.

For our trip we booked the Explore Suite. Climate Control did not work. No heat. Furniture worn and outdated. We were told that this ship was getting ready to leave their fleet.

Ship tip

If you are looking for a Luxury Experience choose another ship.

This was where we visited the Viking River Cruise School. The children were so welcoming and performed traditional dances.

Tour Three Gorges Dam

3 out of 5
Even in the off season the dam was very crowded. The two things the tour had hope the group to see we could not get close enough to see.

Chongqing, China

The Flying Tiger Museum was more of a gallery for local artist to sell their wares. It was located on a one way street in which the bus had to let us and pick us up a distance from the museum. Going back to bus there was a dangerous set of stone steps with no handrails to climb down. Listed for Chongqing was the Dazo Rock Cravings which was magnificent. Chomgqing is a huge Province so perhaps this question should be broken down.
