Review summary

This tour was an excellent introduction to contemporary China.  The river cruise part was a very relaxing aspect, with great food, good company, fine accommodations, interesting stops and dedicated staff and guides.  China is fairly overwhelming and we do not think we could have attempted this kind of a trip on our own, which is the usual way we travel.

Ship tip

Be prepared for rainy and foggy weather -- in addition to China's pollution. We lucked out and Beijing had absolutely beautiful, albeit cold weather while we were there.

I visited China last year.  There was no pollution thank goodness.  My sister was there months prior and many people wore masks.  I am returning to China nest year & I'll bring a face mask just in case - the one I didn't need last year.  I loved the palaces, the temples and the huge statues.  I can't wait to return.

Thank you for the review.  We’ve taken several river cruises in Europe and are interested in trying one in Asia.  You said this was your first cruise; do you think you’ll take another one (river or otherwise)?
