Review summary

I could not recommend a ship more. The ship is maintained in spotless condition. The service staff was always attentive. Service in the dining facilities was excellent. Food is excellent. Our cabin was always kept clean. One thing we particularly appreciated was that when we left things in the cabin in a particular place, the steward did not move them somewhere else.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Delicious.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
A variety of types of entertainment.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was always attentive, but never overbearing or in the way.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is just the right size. Maximum capacity is 1258. Our cruise was at the maximum, but it was never crowded. We never waited in line for anything. There were extra seats in the dining room allowing freedom to move to a different seating if desired. There were always plenty of seats in the theater and around the pool.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an outside stateroom on the Lower Promenade deck. We were concerned before the cruise that people walking on the deck could see in when our curtains were open. Not a problem, windows are one way, so we could see out and no one could see in. Room including bathroom had plenty of space to move around.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

1 out of 5
This is a port that the Mexican gov't is trying to build into the next Cancun. There is really not much here except a recently constructed shopping area and a beach. We planned to go to the beach but it is not immediately adjacent to the port, and it was so hot and the sun so strong that rather than take a cab to the beach and then return quickly to avoid sunstroke, we returned to the ship. Some people took trips to Mayan Ruins and also into the interior to see native villages. Their reviews may be more positive.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

5 out of 5
Another opportunity to see what Central America is like. We traveled to a banana plantation and packing plant. Interesting to see where the bananas in the market come from, but most interesting to ride through the countryside on the way to see how people live.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
We had always wanted to visit Key West, but never wanted to drive 4 hours from Miami. We had plenty of time in the port to see the things we wanted to see.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We had never been to Central America. Visiting on this cruise was an excellent way to get a taste of what it is like. We visited Mayan Ruins which gave us an opportunity to travel about an hour outside the city to see the countryside. There was also the standard array of souvenir vendors in the port.
