Review summary

Would have been a good cruise except for noise level and poor sleep. Slipped and fell in Solarium on slick floor. Took name and room number but never called to check on me. Between being sore from falling and no sleep cruise was a disaster. I cannot recommend this cruise or cruise line. This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and will be my last. Sadly if they would have done more to control the noise level and would have been more concerned about the wellbeing of their guests this could have been an excellent trip and wonderful time. Sadly their inattention to detail has not endeared me to the Royal Caribbean brand. I will spend my travel dollars elsewhere.

Cabin was nice but noise level was not tolerable due to children being allowed to run up and down the hallway during quiet time.

Ship tip

Asked to be placed in a quite area away from the noisy areas. Other wise if you are a light sleeper then your cruise will be subpar due to lack of sleep.

We love the RCCL Oasis class ships. To avoid nigh time noise, we always book cabins as far forward as possible. It means a bit more walking to the elevators but worth the isolation. Also make sure there are passenger cabins on the deck below and above yours. Also cabins across the hall. Cabin selection can make or break a vacation.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience and I hope you’re doing well after your fall. With that being said, you have to own your part in this unpleasant experience. Cruising requires research this cruise ship is geared towards partying and it’s branded that way. Also deck plans are available and you can choose your room so your lack of sleep is directly related to you failing to research your ship and cabin. There are plenty of signs that tell you areas are slippery we must all watch our step. I agree it would have been nice if Royal had checked up on you but it would not have been expected if there was no major injury especially with a ship of that size. I hope you have learned from this experience and keep cruising even if you choose another cruise line. But next time do your research!!

That is why you study deckplans before you book. A lack of planning on your part does not become the fault of the Cruiseline. Just on you. Plan better next time.

Sorry you had a disappointing cruise.

It’s a huge ship with a lot of passengers. It’s a weekend party ship. It’s going to be noisy.

What was the noise?

Sorry you didn't have a great time. Their marketing has the Utopia billed as "The World's Biggest Weekend." You may have missed that. I've thoroughly enjoyed every Oasis class ship. They set the standard in mega-ships and looking forward to sailing Utopia soon.

Sounds like the mega ships and short itineraries aren't for you.
