Review summary

We had a very enjoyable time on Discovery. I'm probably being picky but there were a few grumbles. 1. The food portions in the main dining rooms were small. One evening we had bruschetta as a started and there were 2 pieces the size of a 50p! Calzone pizza was the size of a small pasty etc. Service was great though. The portions in the speciality restaurants were good. You can, of course, eat from the minute you get up until you go to bed! We tried to save ourselves for dinner so w were a little disapointed. 2. The main lounges were always full and we found it tricky to get seats. Like wise in the Island buffet. Luckily we had decent weather so we could sit outside. 3. Live lounge is souless. Very strange space. The band we heard in there was very good though. Good girl singer. 4. The shows were good. Very hard working, talented show company but on a 7 night cruise to the fjords with an average age of 65+ I'd question how wise it was to include the "Festival" show, which included modern pop/rock music, when there were other shows that weren't scheduled in. 5. The Venue, was a lovely space but seemed under used. Some of game show type entertainment that was not well followed and a few dance classes when the Atrium was used for other things. Could be a good cabaret room. Our cabin steward, Willy, was great. All bar and restuarant staff were great. Favourite bar was Bar 11. Nice views and great cocktails. The speciality restaurants were good. Surf & Turf and Kora La. The small sushi bar in Kora La was under used and maybe not situated in the best place. We had a fabulous meal in Surf & Turf, the steak was beautiful. Ship layout was good. Our room was clean, and well appointed. Nothing missing. We had a lovely time. Good ports and thankfully very good weather. Would we try Marella again? Yes definitely.
