Review summary

The Tahitian Princess is a nice ship, reminding me of a boutique style hotel in its furnishings. At under 700 passengers, it does give that intimate feel and is nicely laid out. It was quite a change from the larger ships that I was used to, but one that I grew to enjoy. The fact that it was a Renaissance ship prior to Princess, accounted for the large number of balconies available and the only way to go on a tahitian cruise. I will say that I enjoyed the diversity of the staff and found them to be accomodating and efficient. I was somewhat disappointed in the food, finding it to be good, but nothing that truly excited me.The entertainment staff was young, but worked very hard, as those with the energy do, to give quality shows.

Ports of call

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Coming into the port here was truly a sight. You have never seen more shades of blue water melt together as here.
Don't Miss: Take a local tour with Stefan....he's on shore. He doesn't punch a clock and is truly entertaining. You'll snorkel in great places, get an island tour and eat fruit as the sun goes down.

Moorea, French Polynesia

Another lovely island
Don't Miss: rent a dune buggy from the nice French lady on shore. For $40 bucks you get to act like a kid and have a blast going around the island and stopping where you like.

Papeete, Tahiti

3 out of 5
I really did not care for Papeete. The area where the ship docks and surrounding store areas could be cleaner. There was really not much to buy unless you were in search of pearls. Most everything is very expensive and it is not a shoppers paradise. As for tours, not really much to see that I would consider interesting.

Rarotonga, Cook Islands

5 out of 5
This is the only stop on the cruise that is not polynesian...it is a New Zealand island. This is where you should buy some things....the dollar is strong against the NZ dollar.
Don't Miss: the beach here was lovely.....pretty as a picture. Take a cab down to the beachfront restaurant and enjoy.

Pros: some of the beaches and and the water were magnificent. the peace and solitude could really be felt

Cons: the travel to get there was lengthy and it was really hot.
