Review summary

It was a wonderful, relaxing experience. As a mom, I did not have to figure out what was for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, didn't have to hear I am bored, and my son wasn't over indulging on screen time. Cruising will officially be my family's vacation go to. 💗⚓⛴⚓💗

Embarkation

We purchased key so we came in through double doors then made a right to elevators, through security, and on the ship. The whole process took 10 minutes with 6 people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants but did have a Chop's lunch. The lunch was absolutely delectable. The steak melted! We are mainly in the dining room. It had options for everyone in our party. My mother-in-law is gluten sensitive and son has allergies. Our waiters, Al, Iwayan, and Shiela were amazing. They would have certain meals fixed fory son and mother-in-law based on their dietary needs. The Windjammer had various selections but nothing (as on dishes) appeared to compliment one another. By the time, I settled on certain dishes, my plate looked like goulash. A little bit of this, some of that. We are going to add the dining package on our next cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
So MUCH to DO! We couldn't get all done within 7 days

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Hairspray was top-notch, 1977 was spectacular made even more so by costumes; lighting; and skating, comedians were raw and unforgiving (it is not for those easily offended). Hiro, left me confused. I am not sure if there was a cast change prior to our sailing but the story's middle was a hot mess The storyline was clear in the beginning, lots of confusion in the middle, and an happily ever after. I am still trying to figure out how they arrived there. Like I said so much to do we didn't get to Flight or Skating 2.0 but we will catch next year.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Children's program is what I call organized chaos. My son loved it once he was there but hated going because he felt that he was being left out of some other experience. He thoroughly loved being and experience on the ship. He rode all the slides, watched most of the shows, attended a lot of the On Air games and made friends in Adventure Ocean. It is more than babysitting which I was feeling a little guilty about prior to the trip...not anymore 😊

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendly and courteous, they really do out of their way to make your experience a pleasurable one.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Perspective of a mother of young child: Beautiful ship! It is wonderful size, activities, and strategic placement of venues, the 7 neighborhoods. Make sure you are somewhat familiar with them so you are not spending days trying to get your bearing. I definitely was able to get my workout in. Perspective of an older woman (widowed): My mother-in-law who is 67 was not a fan of the size, she felt rushed all the time, and didn't feel it was a ship for older folks. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I gave up trying to get her to appreciate the experience.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It is just like pictures from any search of SoS cabins/stateroom. I forgot to take pictures 🙃 with so much going on. The room steward cleaned twice a day!

Ship tip

Do research ahead of time to familiarize yourself with layout of the ship and keep cranky people home.

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Due to Hurricane Karen, we were unable to go to San Juan and St. Marteen. We were rerouted to Cozumel and Coco Cay

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy with the facial recognition.
