Review summary

The food in the buffet area was terrible - a lot offered, but awful...The dining room food was alright-but definitely NOT great (and I'm NOT a "picky eater"!)...The other 2 dining rooms where you have to pay extra to, I guess, get better food we didn't go to - paid enough for the cruise let alone paying more to get better food was ridiculous..The service by the staff was very good-but they weren't overly friendly or go out of their way..Our balcony room was excellent-thankfully that saved the cruise..The ports were good-except for Juneau -would NEVER go there again (VERY rundown!)

Agree with the comment on bland food. Condiments are available to spice things up. We always ask for chili flakes. Helps a lot.

I was in Juneau just 3 weeks ago. The place (I am not calling it a city) was alright, typical Alaska town. Lots of hiking trails. We hike up to cable car station and back. Juneau people also very nice and courteous. You should not compare it to Seattle or Vancouver. Actually, we like Juneau to keep it's own way with natural beauty. I like Alaska and Juneau, will go back in a month.

Pay restaurants aren't always better. I worked in the food industry over 30 years and sometimes I can get pretty critical of the food. But then I realized that most people on the cruises are European. Their food is a little bland to us Americans.
