Review summary

I don't know if I would do such a long cruise again. I have found the shorter 7-10 day cruises were much more fun for me and my guests. Having to spend 9 days on the ocean with very little starry nights and not much to do was a bit of a disappointment for us. We actually didn't have many sunny days on this trip.

It was very organized and since I have never utilized Princess before, I would certainly consider them again in the future.

The food was fine, but it seemed very boring when going to the buffet as it was always the same items each and every day. The fine dining and waiters were excellent and I left cards to let Princess know I really appreciated them and we did take pictures of the wonderful cuisine many nights.

Onboard Activities

It is important to note that you need to get to the earlier venues very early or they are full! I liked that they had things to do just about every day, but on one event, we went to the Princess Theater early to get a seat and wait for the event. Unfortunately, the event shown on my mobile device must have been incorrect and the venue we wanted to see was not available anywhere on board. We did try to attend as many events as possible such as line dance classes, twilling classes, as well as the fun "question of the day."

The Lotus Spa was the highlight of our honeymoon cruise! As soon as we arrived, we went on a tour of the spa and signed up for couples massages - they were so good (Thanks Pearly and Diya!), we actually booked 4 of them! My polish was wearing off and I even tried the salon which was equally as pleasurable. Everyone was very nice, welcoming, and treated us special which we really appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit their way.

They seemed to be more focused on the older crowd and not much in the way for those who were between 30-60 years of age.

No kids on this cruise and I really didn't see many children on this one.

Our stateroom was impeccable every day! Shendy did a great job for us and we joked how she was like a Ninja and when you got up to to to the bathroom - when you came back - your bed was made again!! LOL

Ship tip

I would definitely get acquainted with all the things available to you. We went to the Crab night dinner and many folks we spoke with on the ship didn't know about it at all. I would also recommend getting better maps at ports of call as the maps from Princess aren't the best.

It was great for our excursion (Volcano, Moana Loa factory, Thomas A Jaggar Museum, etc.), but I wish I would have known to take an umbrella! Evidently, HILO receives quite a bit of rain all the time and I wasn't aware of that!

I liked that we had extra time to visit this island and we actually did the Germaine's Luau for our later in the day excursion. This allowed us to spend the entire day doing what we wanted and end it with the luau from 4-11 pm.

This was our favorite island. The weather was perfect, the beach was perfect and it was nice to just enjoy some down time on a beautiful port. We did visit the Kauai Museum which was very interesting and had a fun little gift shop.
