Review summary

The cruise is a great way to see many islands and learn about the history and culture of these amazing islands. We enjoyed the mix of land and water excursions that we did. We are not avid snorkeling people so this worked out well for us. It was great to unpack at the beginning of the trip and be set to go vs. changing hotels every few days and travelling to different islands on our own. If your main interest is water activities ie snorkeling and diving, then my recommendation would be to skip a cruise and pick one or two islands to visit on your own. The reason I’m recommending this is because although there are snorkel and dive excursions offered through the cruise, the length of time you get to do these is usually limited (ie 1-4 hours).

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Amphora, Veranda and Candles dining was excellent. We tried Cuatro 44 one time. The food was good but found the atmosphere not as inviting as the other places.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did not take advantage of any of the onboard activities…ie pool, spa, fitness center.

Entertainment

Small ship

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the crew and staff were very hospitable, friendly and truly wanted to make sure we had a good time and had everything we needed. The captain was very social and walked around the ship everyday talking to the guests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Layout was good and easy to find places.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were upgraded to cabin 551 which was an ocean view room. Great location in mid ship and did not feel as much of the waves when it was turbulent on one occasion. Very spacious and clean. Bathroom had double sinks. Walk-in closet and plenty of storage throughout the cabin for clothes, gear, etc. The bed was very comfortable and we requested foam pillows after the first night.

Ship tip

Remember to bring a light jacket or sweater to wear on the ship inside as the air conditioning is always on.

Ports of call

Papeete, Tahiti

We did our own excursions prior to the cruise. Would highly recommend the island tour and also whale watching. These were booked through Viator. We also took a taxi to the Tahiti Museum after the cruise ended back in Papeete. Would highly recommend this if you have an interest in history and culture of the islands.

Fakarava, Tuamotu Archipelago

E-bike tour of the island. Stopped at a couple of points of interest to learn about the history and culture.

Rangiroa, French Polynesia

4 out of 5
We did not do an excursion here. Walked to the public beach and did some snorkeling. Beautiful spot. Walked across the atoll to the other side and walked along the beach.

Taha'A, Society Islands

4 out of 5
Did the Scenic tour on land. All other excursions were cancelled due to high winds. Saw some interesting sights on the tour including a pearl farm and vanilla farm.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

5 out of 5
One of our top two ports. Arrived a day early as we had to leave Taaha early due to high winds. Some souvenir shops and stores within walking distance of the port. First full day at port we did a eco snorkel excursion on a small boat. Stopped at 4 sights for snorkeling, saw eagle rays at the first stop. Unfortunately couldn’t find any manta rays. Was great to be out on the water with so many amazing shades of blue and green. Second day at port we did an island tour on land in an open air truck. Very thorough and fun to learn more about the culture. Later this day in the evening, the guests were ferried over in a catamaran in groups to a private island (Motu) for a dinner and entertainment (dancers and fire dancers). This was a highlight of the trip.

Huahine, French Polynesia

Did a land excursion in open air truck called Sacred Sites and Legendary places. Very informative. Guide was very knowledgeable.

Moorea, French Polynesia

Whale watching tour was excellent, saw two whales breaching at least 8 times!

Disembarkation

Thanks for the great review. Quick question if that's ok? We are doing a cruise in October, im seeing conflicting answers as to Men being able to wear "nice" shorts and polo shirts. Are you able to clarify this for me please.
