For me? It was perfect!!! The Caribbean is a truly glorious place. And close! And I LOVE Windstar - 6 cruises and am already thinking RE my 7th next year. On our trip (only 181 passengers) we had someone who had done Windstar 17 times and another 24 times. Bottomline? You are passionate about Windstar (few folks - but all wonderful; great food; minimal evening activities, etc.) or "it's not your cup of tea" (e.g., if one likes shows, structured activities in the day time, rock walls, shopping on board, etc., etc.)
Embarkation

Extremely easy with folks there to guide you every step of the way.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
As always, the food was outstanding - whether in Amphora/Candles (dinner) or the Veranda (breakfast/lunch). For the latter, I particularly like that you have the option of buffet or "menu" items. Breakfast: I love the omelet station and the variations on eggs benedict. Lunch: EXCELLENT range of "salads"; but this last trip, I did miss the "pasta station" - hope that comes back. Dinner: Candles is - if possible - even better.
And, RE Amphora, only one meal was "meh", i.e. the duck. Oh, and I LOVE the open seating policy. If you want to dine just with you companion/group, totally fine. BUT, if you would like to join others, they are very supportive and this is a great wqay to meet fgolks!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
If someone wants lots of structured activities, Windstar is not for them. :-) The pool is an Olympic sized bird bath and I think the only "structured" activity during the day (other than excursions) is a cooking class, drink mixing class (not offered this trip) and a line dancing class (also not offered this trip). And I am hopeful the latter two will be reinstated. And the fitness center is very marginal. But that being said, I love Windstar. We read, relax, take excursions. etc. And their deck barbeque and beach barbeque (where they have tons of "water toys") are truly exceptional!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I have to quality the above rating. For me - personally - it was perfect/outstanding. It's just that you don't go on Windstar for "shows". The crew talent show was wonderful and tons of fun as was the line dancing after the deck barbeque. And there was one another night - a Billy Joel special which I did not attend but heard was great. And a local reggae performer was there one afternoon and he was over the top! WOW!!! BUT....if you want shows, lots of professional entertainment, casino (with roulette and craps), this is not for you.
Children's Programs
No children. Plus, children are very rare on the Windstar so I doubt they even HAVE a children's program
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This is one of the most outstanding things RE Windstar (other than their food). The ship personnel. The number of guests are small, and the staff quickly learn your name. They make you feel like a beloved part of the family. Never - at any hotel/cruise - have I experienced more wonderful staff.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
RE clean and well maintained: Excellent. EVERYPLACE!!!
RE layout/design: I have been on all of their boats are all are extremely well laid out designed. And, while I personally prefer their true sailing vessels, the berths on the power vessels are over the top.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Above is an error RE both my room number and cabin type. 214 with a balcony.
Comfort: Large/extremely comfortable sofa and 2 extremely comfortable chairs plus a "desk chair".
Cleanliness: A+++
Size: HUGE!
Ship tip
If you enjoy meeting people and learning RE their travels, etc., join other folks for dinner. ZERO work talk!
This is difficult to rate. They were SMUSHED by Hurricane Irma. But I am GLAD we went there to help them come back!!! And our excursion (and one other) were cancelled due to lack of folks signing up.
I love this port. (5 times?) Good range of excursions BUT they replaced the cat boat with zodiacs. No where near as much fun. Also, the reef got clobbered by Irma
Second only to Mont Serrat, must do stop. Windstar provided an outstanding range of options RE excursions for this port. This was my fourth or fifth time there (different excursion each time) and there are three more I want to do.
No excursion because (1) been there a lot and - more importantly - (2) we wanted to fully enjoy the beach barbeque - which was the best! Excellent food!!! Lots of space, more than enough lounge chairs/umbrellas. Perfect water to play in. A highlight of the trip!
I love this island and it is truly beautiful, But have been there many times and done all the "normal" excursions at least twice. This time Windstar had a new one: You go to a fish market and buy fish; a produce market and buy your produce (peppers, garlic, plantains, etc.), then you go to a restaurant (closed to the public) and cook the things that were bought. TONS of fun!
