I boarded the Sky on the 23rd. There are pool attendants and the food is very good. Great cruise.

Embarkation issue must have been you. The last time we boarded a Princess ship it took 8 minutes from the time we walked through the front door of the cruise terminal to the top of the ramp to the ship.
