This was our first cruise on one of Oceania's smaller ships. We liked the larger Riviera/Marina better but this was not bad. Major kudos for the entertainment!!!! We will not sail in/out of Aruba again.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Not good. Aruba required completion of online forms before airline tickets could be produced, adding to confusion and concern over embarkation. The embarkation then was delayed when we showed up to board, having to wait in line with all our luggage in hot tropical sun for an hour before being given entry to embarkation terminal. When we arrived on board, we were forced to surrender our passports to Oceania, with only the promise that they would be returned at debarkation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Specialty restaurants were excellent, both food and service. Terrace restaurant (buffet) food was also very good - service ok. Main dining room was a complete disappointment - service ok, but food just so-so. We stopped going there after 3rd day.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Pool is too small, and shaded lounging chairs on pool deck were too few. Library was outstanding, afternoon tea was nice. We chose not to participate in games.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All were totally terrific!!!!
Children's Programs
We have no kids.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room stewards, butler were excellent. Bar waiters were always quick and available. Wait staff in buffet (coffee, drinks, etc) were too few in numbers. Often had to wait for coffee refills.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Oceania uses the same basic layout on all its ships, which makes it easy to use. Always clean. We did notice that some of the furnishings in the buffet showed signs of wear.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our only complaint was that the bathroom sink and counter was way too small. Full size shower was great! Everything else as great.
Still had to fill out online docs for Aruba - pointless. Oceania was quick and well organized and we got our passports back. Taxis were readily available at about 1/10th the price that Oceania was offering (shame!).
