This was a two week cruise to Alaska, from San Fran to Vancouver Canada. Crossed the Gulf of Alaska twice, going as far north as Valdez in Prince William Sound. One week north and one week south. Different ports both going and coming. That is the way to cruise Alaska.
Regent uses the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables. Perfectly nice hotel, IF you're a conventioneer! Nowhere NEAR the beach. Stay someplace more "Miami", like in South Beach. Yes, you'll have to get yourself to the hotel and the ship, but how hard is that?!
I would recommend avoiding cabins in the back of the ship. The Navigator has a real problem with vibration at the back of the ship that we have never experienced on other ships.
The all-inclusive feature was wonderful and I would definitely do it again. Regent also offered a land package that was included in the price. You could either have a 3 day stay in Lisbon before the cruise, or a 3 day safari at the end of the cruise. We did the safari. It was breakthaking!
Being on a smaller ship, we never experienced crowds or waiting lines whether at events, dining, or disembarking. The crew always greeted us most graciously. We never witnessed a frown from anyone the whole week! We met many new friends and hope to sail with some of them and you on our next trip.
Casino was fun with a great ship staff. Entertainment was really good.
Difficult to maintain Wi-Fi, which was expensive.
Not enough port time, especially Ketchikan.
The aft part of the Seven Seas Navigator vibrates rather badly. it is a know problem. However, anyone with a cabin in the aft part of the ship found this very bothersome. The other parts of the ship were comfortable with regards to the vibration.
Do not book a cabin in the aft third of the ship as the ship used to be an icebreaker and then entire aft end of the ship shutters in anything higher than 4 foot seas, and do not book a penthouse suite for three, no matter what the travel agent tells you, your not going to be comfortable with a third person in the room for a long cruise. The ship is wonderful, the food is glorious and if you don't dance, its the ship for you as long as you book mid-ships and forward.
I think the cabins in the front of the ship may be better than the back because there are three elevators in front and the rocking is not as bad. Also, we heard engine noise in the theatre that we never heard in our cabin.
I WOULD RECOMMEND A DIFFERENT SHIP. I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND ADDITIONAL ATTENTION BE PAID TO THE SELECTION OF YOUR SPECIFIC CABIN. I AM SURE SOMEWHERE IN THE DETAILS I COULD HAVE KNOWN IT WAS A HANDICAPPED DESIGNED SUITE, BUT IT WASN'T OBVIOUS ENOUGH FOR ME TO AVOID MAKING THAT MISTAKE. IT RESULTED IN NO BATHTUB, JUST A SHOWER, AND NO COUNTER/STORAGE SPACE IN THE BATHROOM.
