Review summary

This site continues to kick me off!!! We will not be sailing with Princess cruise lines again. We will cancel our 2012 cruise. The overall experience was not a quality experience. If this would have been my first cruise, I would not cruise again. The dining experience was such poor quality, we avoided the dining room whenever possible. The quality of food was less than Denny's. The only location to get any kind of quality was in the Steak House where the staff at least had some training in serving passengers. The Steak House was good....but on other ships would be the norm.......and without extra charges. We dined there 3 times and took leftovers to our room for the following day. The room service menu was very limited......and VERY BAD!!! The first night, the mattress was old and flat. We slept little and were very stiff and sore in the morning. The steward wrapped the mattress in an egg crate. This helped. We were told we would get a new mattress......this did not happen. We felt nickel and dimed continuously. The main discussion as we met other passengers was about the bad ship and service and no comparision with other cruise lines. We requested towels and rarely received any additional except the minimum 1 per person. The little special added services on other ships in the cabin was non-existent...no folded bird towels.....or any added service. The Internet was less than acceptable. I brought my laptop so that I could do some work and was continually bumped off and bandwidth was extremely low making the downloading slow and requiring more money to be spent to use the service. I am in the business and know that this was not appropriate and another way to make money for the ship at the expensive costs to use the service. Activities were very limited and boring.....along with poor entertainment. The PORTS were enjoyable.....and we were anxious to get off the ship at each and to find good food and enjoy the "expensive" tours. Again....overall......not the experience we expected and will not be cruising with Princess again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Very poor quality of food. Less than Denny's. Staff poorly trained and entrees less than desirable......not fresh nor creative. Room service the worst I have ever experience on cruise or hotel. See comments above.

Entertainment

Activities: Not worth attendingexcept Bingo.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Lack of training of staff overall. Most of the staff was slightly friendly and with no warmth. Staff on most ships try to go above and beyond to make passengers feel special. Mostly we heard how much time they had left before getting off and going home.

Ship Quality

Did not like layout of ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Bad and "OLD" mattress. An egg crate was used to help with comfort. We were supposed to get a different mattress.....did not happen. Did not appear to ever change the linens on bed. Limited towels.....requested more.....rarely received.

Ports of call

Victoria, British Columbia

Walked around and had lunch at The Empress Hotel. More time would have been nice at this port.

Skagway, Alaska

Fun port for spending 4th of July. Took train ride and viewed the beautiful sights. Found wonderful bakery (Lemon Rose) and took food back with us. Finally found a Starbucks for good coffee....unlike the poor quality of coffee on the cruise. 4th of July on ship was not well-planned and boring. Train ride and Lemon Rose Bakery. Shops away from recommended Princess shops with quality and better pricing.
Don't Miss: Train ride and Lemon Rose Bakery. Shops away from recommended Princess shops with quality and better pricing.

Juneau, Alaska

Jeep tour was terrific and no one else went on the tour. This was too bad as the tour guide was very good and very informative. Found a good restaurant with "fresh" salmon and halibut.
Don't Miss: Jeep tour.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The Duck Tour was fun and learned a little about the area. Walked around and met locals.....once away from all the "PROMOTED" and paid stores by Princess.
Don't Miss: Duck Tour

Pros: The PORTs

Cons: The overall cruise was very dissappointing and would not cruise with Princess again.

Recommends Sea Princess? No.
