Review summary

I would recommend this Thanksgiving cruise if it your first time cruising. The weather was perfect. The staff was helpful and they wanted to make sure that you are enjoying your time with them. Everyone that I saw onboard were respectful and all wore their masks indoors

Embarkation

Very smooth! People were arriving in the time frame they signed up for and there was hardly any waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The drinks were great, large selection of wines and the dinner experience was fantastic. On the other hand, I have food allergies and I would have enjoyed the buffet more if they had labeled the food signs with allergens. For example, pork ribs were coated with bbq sauce that had soy sauce in it. I can’t do gluten so I was very disappointed. I sent in my survey with the company that I was very disappointed. They need to hire someone that knows how to change 1 or 2 ingredients so their foods can be enjoyed by all. I hate being left out. I brought in some of my baked goods so I didn’t starve during the day before dinner. The Internet Cafe is great except that don’t always carry non dairy milk other than soy, lactose free (it still milk) and rice milk (water) but I was able to get almond milk 3 days into the cruise. The Horizon Court offered a lot of choices to eat. 1/2 the items are self served and the other 1/2 are served by the kitchen staff which was nice. The drinks are not served anymore so you’ll have to ask or sometimes they will come around and take your request for coffee, tea or water.

Onboard Activities

There were plenty of things to do but we didn’t partake on any of them so I can’t rate them but the people that did looked like they were having fun!

Entertainment

It was wasn’t spectacular but it was entertaining!

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

The dining room manager made sure I got the menu the day before so I can have an allergen free meal. Dessert for me was non existent so I brought my own chocolate for a sweet treat.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Super clean! Crew was always cleaning after guest areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very comfortable! Love when there’s bottles of body wash and shampoo/conditioner in the shower. The TV had lots of movies to watch since the movie theater wasn’t open due to COVID which was fine with us.

Ship tip

If you got food allergies, bring packaged & labeled foods to put in your cabin for snacking. There’s nothing much to eat during the day other than veggie sticks, hummus and deli meats.

Ports of call

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
No excursion since it’s a departure port

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
No excursions taken. We loved the walk down to the shopping near the pier. Next time we will check out more of the town.

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Love the improvements on the pier since I was last here. I wish there was like a “You Are Here” map at the port so it will have nearby points of interest. The shopping area wasn’t too far away but be careful crossing the street since the cars are driven fast!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Since there was about 1/2 as many passengers, it didn’t take long to get off the ship and through customs. It was the fastest experience we ever had!
