Review summary

We have sailed, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney, and now Princess. We had high hopes for Princess because for one it sails out of Long Beach which is local for us and two because it was supposed to be a step above Carnival. We found the cabin (mini suite) awesome, but the ship was just so so and the food was below par.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was good, not great. The extra venues that offered hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza were as good as you could get from home. The buffet’s were a bit below average. I am not a big eater, but was disappointed in the access to food variety throughout the day and the quality of the food.

Service and Staff

Usually you get a really lively dining room waiter and you get to know them throughout your cruise. Our waiter was nice enough , but very aloof and service was not good.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was well maintained and clean. The layout of the ship was confusing.

Cabin / Stateroom

Sailed Princess because of their reasonable mini suite prices. Was not disappointed in our cabin! Just enough room for three and comfy beds. I was disappointed in the Riby Princess overall though and don’t know if I would sail it again.

Ship tip

If you normally book a balcony cabin, upgrade for a small amount to a mini suite. Well worth it!

If you just want to get off the ship and relax and not do excursions, this is a great place. At the tender pier, just walk the sidewalk to your right for 10-15 minutes and you will find yourself at Medano Beach. Don’t waste your money on a water taxi...unless you want a little cruise around the bay. The beach is lovely, has good restaurants, and shopping!

I agree for service and staff. My first cruise dining experience was amazing! The server remembered my name, what I liked, didn’t like.. this time around they just seemed too busy to stay and chat for a bit. Overall though I enjoyed the cruise! Thanks for the review😊

Princess sails out of San Pedro, not Long Beach (Carnival does LB). Do not know what was confusing but then again we have been on a few cruises , both Navy and fun, so we are used to shipboard mazes. Waiters, our last cruise it took 4 days to find Mario, and we requested that table for the rest of the 10 day trip (anytime). Early mornings until about 11, agree on the food.
