Review summary

This Ruby Princess fell well below my expectations. The majority of the crew were careless and rude. Any time you brought up an issue the standard response was, “We are sorry booked”. I don’t think they know they are in a hospitality industry. Sure they have you captive for a week, but not as returning customers. I can’t imagine they will still be in business 5 years from now if they don’t drastically change their training and attitude. Last note, no one person in our party of ten would ever take another Princess Cruise again. And I’m sorry to feel that way about Princess.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarking is a little confusing. I’m not sure who is responsible LA Port or Princess. No one around to help out. The most helpful people are the porters.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was way under staff. They were practically non existent. When you got lucky enough to find a staff member, they acted as if you were annoying them or they simply said it’s not their station.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Only used the fitness center. It was clean and not too many machines were broken.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My 5 year ago loved going everyday. Sometimes twice a day.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Room steward and kid club were amazing. Other than that service was really poor

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was design was fine and it was fairly keep up

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a junior suite. It was very comfortable and spacious. We had a queen bed, a sofa sleeper and one single bunk bed that came down from the ceiling.

Ship tip

Try another cruise line. Right now they are living on pass love for the cruise line. There are many options out there and I would not recommend Princess

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Taking the tender in the evening was an absolute nightmare. Leaving the ship and returning to the ship was terribly organized. Other than that Cabo was fun. Highly recommend the Office in Cabo.

Disembarkation

For a new time cruiser it was very confusing. The front desk scolded me for not understanding their ship lingo and their procedures.

Your “Expectations” seems to be the issue. I just returned yesterday and could not have been happier.

The Ruby Princess was my first cruise and we had a great experience in which I am on my fifth cruise in Rome in a few weeks. All the staff were very friendly and we received great service.

I’ll agree with @Irabe. We’ve always had great experiences on Princess. I’m sorry it didn’t meet your expectations. Interesting observation in the dining room. I might recommend traditional dining in any future cruise regardless of cruise line. That way you’ll have a dedicated wait staff each night and maybe receive better service. 🍸

You need to complain to Princess if you feel their staff was rude. We were on the Ruby in February for the 7 day Mexican Rivera and all the staff and servers were wonderful. We are going back on the Ruby in December for the same 7 day cruise. We meet a couple that were on their 4th back to back on the Ruby and had 2 more trips on her without getting off the ship. I know that sounds odd but the wife was Elite status with Princess and they we’re taking all the back to backs to get the husband up to elite status. They were in agreement with my husband and I that we were all treated exceptionally well by all the staff. I’m sure Princess will still be in business in 5 years, since they have been in business since the 60’s.
