Review summary

This is the third time we've taken this cruise, its an easy fun get away. If you have never taken a cruise before I would recommend this to anyone. Please don't let the few issues I've identified above turn you from this cruise or Princess Cruise Lines in general, there were just some issues that need to be addressed. I'm sure my wife and I will do this particular cruise in the future as it's a fun little trip.

99% of this trip was wonderful, this one particular issue is just not acceptable. Went to the public restroom, and the Chef who was over the Hamburger cooking area and the buffet was using the restroom as well. When he was finished he went to sink and ran his hands under the water for 5 seconds at most, no soap, no scrubbing, then dried his hands and walked out. Needless to say I skipped having burgers the rest of the trip.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship as a whole was quite clean but the bathrooms were having a huge problem and several times throughout the cruise either the room bathrooms or the public bathrooms did not flush. The odor at one point was so bad it woke me at 3am from a sound sleep and caused me to get physically ill. Had to open the balcony door to push the stink out of the room.

khaley77017, The horizon buffet closes at 11:00 pm, some cruises it stays open until 12. However, the international cafe is open 24 hours. They have yummy bakery items, soups, sandwiches and fruit. I’m sure I’m forgetting lots of things. The selection varies throughout the day. They also have 24 hour room service. Enjoy your trip!

I’m going on the Ruby in July to Alaska and wanted to know.. do they have the buffet late at night. So if we’re hungry like 11 or midnight is there anywhere to get some food ?

I went on the Ruby last year and it was perfect! No bathroom issues. Fungooleyruley I’m sure they corrected the problem pronto! If something goes wrong after leaving port then they do the best they can with the problem (short or canceling he whole cruise). Now let’s not think any more of this . . . go have fun!!

Ugh! My husband was a chef before. I think we would have reported Chef Hamburgler. That’s just nasty. We would have skipped as well!

OMG! Hygiene is not a small issue and as someone who is due to sail on the Ruby later this month I am very concerned and hope they see your comments and address these issues. In light of the room odour issues I will now bring my travel diffuser in case it’s needed! 😱
