Enjoyed the Royal Princess overall. Clean, good staff, great entertainment and fun vibe without being to party hardy.

Food and Dining

Did not visit MDR.
The buffet was good with great choices. We really enjoyed Alfredo’s pizzeria.
We also ate at Crown Grille and it was subpar. Some of our food was cold and my lobster was overcooked. Also we were 4th to be seated but last to get our meal. First time we have had a subpar experience there.
Onboard Activities

Go and see the Princess Theatre shows. All were very good to excellent. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes prior if attending the early showing.
We enjoyed the variety of entertainment from the trivia’s to the Piazza music. The Cruise director staff from Marcus the CD to Andrew the Canadian were fun.
Loved the retreat pool (adult only area). Pool was heated.

Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Majority were nice, peppy and happy to be there. However a few wait staff in buffet and Pastry Shop would barely acknowledge you and some of the staff looked exhausted!!! But again the majority were great. Our room steward Chai was quick to serve and check in with us daily. He also always refilled the ice bucket without me having to ask!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Very clean! No issues with cleanliness or concerned about germs.
I did not like the aft area. Horizon pool is no longer there and that area is now where everyone smokes. The rear of the ship on Royal is not like Ruby or Emerald. Also the Vista Lounge (also aft) was always dead! Meanwhile you had to fight for a seat in the Princess Live “TV Studio” which is the majority of the entertainment/trivia shows are held.
Cabin / Stateroom

Size of cabin is great. This is a Deluxe Balcony and I enjoyed having the mini couch to sit on. However the couch was older and I kept sliding off it due to wear and tear of seat cushions. Also the carpet needs to be changed out.
Bedding and towels etc were all nice and clean. Overall a great location midship. The lifeboats ate right below. Next time we will go try to get away from the lifeboats. We typically stay aft.
Ship tip
Bring a pool noodle. The Retreat Pool is 5 ft to 7 ft in depth causing you to tread water or hang onto side. I luckily had a pool noodle and just floated around easily in that.
Las Caletas was beautiful with great food. Quite a bit of steps and cobblestone so anyone with walking handicaps may struggle a bit. It was high tide there when we tried to snorkel. No fish to speak of. Still enjoyable though.
Very rushed. Our ship reversed our port stops supposedly due to engine issue. This caused our time in Cabo to be from 7 am to noon. All excursions were late coming and rushed rushed. I’ve been here twice before and this time was not very pleasant.
We did the sail and city tour offered through Princess. The sail was great. The City Tour was so quick with each stop being only 10-20 minutes. Not worth the $70
