Review summary

Overall, a very good trip. But, as mentioned above, I felt the quality of the food had slipped a bit from prior trips and the by the glass wine selection needs to be increased. The shows were excellent, although we had to get there at least half an hour early to get a seat. We do not think the quality of the Crown Grill warrants the extra cost. Would have liked to have had more dishes common to the region we were travelling such as clam chowder, fried clams, stuffed quohogs, etc.

While my cruise card was ready, my wife's wasn't and we had to wait for more than an hour for her replacement card to be issued.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
While the food was generally good, we felt the quality had slipped from our last cruise on the Royal two years ago. We were very disappointed in the Crown Grill where our filet was tough and relatively flavorless. The beef in the regular dining room was better. I hate to pay $30 more apiece and get food that isn't even as good as the regular dining room. We like to order our wine by the glass and were disappointed by the very limited selection of by the glass wines in both the regular dining rooms and in the Crown Grill. On the other hand, there was a much bigger and better selection in Sabatini's. I don't know why that same selection can't be offered in the regular dining rooms.

The smoothest we have experienced, especially considering the size of the ship.

People don't spend as much as they used to, so I'm guessing they're trying to get the spenders back on. Can you believe that some don't pay tips. Those people working on those ships deserve tips, they work hard, esspecially the waiters, not that the others don't.

Thanks for a thoughtful review. On the food, in April we were on a 4 day club class and the matre de (sp) told us the line was rolling out a new menu. I told him I was not impressed with a number of the dishes on the new menu compared to the old. But the was a limited look.
