This was my 17th cruise, but first on Oceania. I may be spoiled, but I liked my experience with Viking and Crystal better because they were all inclusive; whereas Oceania found additional things to charge for. Oceania's "free" week of WiFi was frustratingly hard to access and then very slow. Their communication was poor. We were given different information depending on who we asked. Aside from that, it was a wonderful cruise.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Long, slow lines to get onboard.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was wonderful, but wine was expensive. My group loved the noon Flavor of the Nation in the main dining room. Every day was a different selection of small plates to share, so we got to sample a lot of foods that were new to us.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We enjoyed the movie theater with popcorn and an evening event of "Name That Tune" around Ed at the piano. The wine tasting at $50 seemed expensive, so we skipped the second one that would have cost $75.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There is only one time to see the evening performance and for me it started too late. I went to the comedian one night, and he was good.
Children's Programs
This is not a cruise designed for children. I only saw one child the enter time, which was fine.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the staff were warm and wonderful.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Riviera is beautiful and well maintained. I loved the rain head shower. There were actually two showers. A second one was in the bath tub.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The size was what I've become accustomed to from other ships. Everything was planned so the small area worked very well. I had read a review earlier about the suitcase not fitting under the bed, but mine did.
Ship tip
If you like wine, bring the 3 bottles per cabin that are allowed to come on board in your carry on.
Miami was a treat this trip because we had Miami Vice Luxury Car Service giving us a city tour to fill the time between our arrival on the red eye and when we would be allowed to board. Our driver showed us Little Havana and Star Island as well as taking us to a Cuban restaurant for breakfast.
