Less than expected. by Ellen1966

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed sailing with friends. The ship looked a little worn. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was quite good but the offerings in the main dining room was limited. The primary negative point was having reservations as welll as "anytime eating" in the main dining room. Our reservations were at 8:00 but they seated people at that table at 7:30. No way would they be done at 8:00. The whole week it was a fiasco.

Good Itinerary by USACruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Itinerary was great. We wish we could have had about 2 more hours in the afternoon in each port. I recommend taking excursions. Ours were great! It turned out to be an older person gambling cruise. This was fine for us as we don't gamble. Was surprised not to get a repeaters invitation to a repeaters cocktail party. I asked stateroom attendant about it but I don't know if she understood what I was talking about. Shows were good not exceptional. There was a lot of line dancing classes that were fun but only a few poolside activities and the nightlife on the ship was nonexistent until the last night of the cruise. The one Salsa dancing class they did on the last sea day was excellent. Kudos to the dancers!

Singer Hn/aolly T. was OUTSTANDING by ptambrino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The entertainment was the best and singer Holly T. was outstanding.  However, the comedian on the last night was the only very poor act -- they should not use him again --- use Holly T. more.

Regarding Cruises.only I was disappointed there was no on-board credit given on this cruise???

FUN cruise! Not quite up to our expectations. by srichey918

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time. The service was excellent, all the staff are conscientious. Our servers in the main dining room - Roly and Boris were fantastic. We made some wonderful friendships at our table. The entertainment was outstanding. This ship was a bit rocky on the days we were out to sea, more so, than any ship we have cruised; not so bad that you felt sick, just harder to walk. It seems we had to pay extra for things that have been included in the past. The food was very good, but a few things were not up to the high standard, we expected. This ship is beautiful and well maintained. They do a great job getting off and on the ship, at the ports!

Excellent food. Excellent service. And outstanding shows. We did not take any tours this trip, however We would recommend the Swimming with the Dolphins Tour in Cozumel.

Phenomenal cruise experience!!! by ttanner97172301

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a fantastic first cruise for us, and if it is any indication on what other cruises are like we will be going on another one soon.  Everything from the daytime activities, port of calls, evening dining and events, cruise staff and entertainment directors was spot on.  Well done Royal Caribbean!!!

Outstanding! by snazzylarson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line because they go overboard (excuse the pun) to see that everything is a perfect as possible in every way.  They are so experienced in moving large numbers of people on/off the ship at every port that you don't feel that you're standing in line forever as you do with other cruise lines.

Their entertainment is outstanding as is the food in the dining rooms and cafes.

I love the fact that every state room has the ability to hold all your personal items out of site and the beds are very comfortable.  Whether in an inside cabin or outside with a window or balcony you'll always be comfortable.

All staff are pleasant and anxious to assist is any way they can.

Rhapsody of the Seas by starwaltn1521

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It is definitely one of Royal Caribbean's smaller ships. If you have any types of waves, you will feel it all around the boat. Not many options for dining other than the Windjammer and main dining room. This boat is definitely geared towards elderly clients, and does not have many activities for younger clients (20-30yrs.) If you want a small, easy cruise, this would be a good option. But if you are used to the larger boats, and like selections, keep cruising on their bigger ships.

Also, personally, I would not recommend choosing an itinerary with Honduras on it. Not much on the island within walking distance, and it did not give off a save vibe. If you do go there, make sure to book a trusted excursion, or stay on the boat.

stateroom issues. by centerring

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed the dining room staff. They were very responsive to my needs and also friendly and went beyond. The stateroom attendant was below average. Slacked on her job and lied about an issue to her supervisor. I had to remake bed almost every night and deal with other issues even after complaining about it to customer service.

Poor execution by johnfairbairn20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The whole staff was amazing. The servers in the main hall, the housekeepers, the entertainment, etc. Do not get me wrong on that.

The issue was it was our honeymoon. I tried setting stuff up with our room and the MULTIPLE people I spoke with said they had it figured out and were going to set things up for me. We get into our room and it was a disaster. Nothing was correct. Nothing was the way I wanted it NOR the way the multiple people I spoke with said it would be set up.

Then as a "Sorry" they gave us a dinner at one of the expensive restaurants. The food was great but we were there for 1 1/2 hours before even getting our food. After telling them we were in a hurry because we wanted to get to one of their game shows (Which are a blast).

The drink package is totally worth it but if you drink too fast, the bar tenders begin to think that you are handing drinks off and will stop serving you. Got very annoying.

All in all the trip was great for the most part. So please do not think I am bashing the cruise or anything. I would still recommend it. My wife and I just had one of those "if it could go wrong, it will go wrong" types of weeks

Uneven quality of services and food by fsauer347

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We thought that the food was most of the time mediocre.  Sometimes it was better than average, sometimes it was terrible (tough steak, under cooked seafood, over cooked seafood).  The buffet on the 9th floor seemed to be crowded and hectic most of the time.

We enjoyed the shows...the cast was excellent and they performed with enthusiasm.

There didn't seem to be many activities on board.  Most of them were efforts to get you to buy something (e.g. cosmetics in the spa, shopping in the pier, acupuncture, etc.)

extra charge for everything by mikepcavanaugh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the servers and staff were great. the bar server Yuliia Sotenko i believe from the Ukraine was a lot of fun and and an excellent server. Our dining room waiter Nickola from Serbia and his girl assistant were excellent. All of the servers and staff on the ship were very good.We did not purchase the dining package so we were not in at least four eating areas. Parts of the ship were off limits to us. The drink package was too expensive. It seemed like everything on the ship cost extra. last year our Norwegian cruse was less expensive and all inclusive next year we will try to sail with them again.

Winter Friend Get Away by Jboftn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Fun winter retreat with friends. The travelers on this ship were family and friend oriented with a diversity of ages. Loved our days at sea! Enjoyed the shows, activities, our breakfasts,  returning to our cozy cabin after a full day and evening of activities to watch movies on tv.

Old ship, poor condition. by mdamitz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 10th cruise.  Second on Royal Caribbean.  When we arrived our cabin was filthy.  Phone was broke, safe was broke, bathroom sink was also in need of repair.  It took three trips to guest services to get any action.  The manager knew I was waiting and actually hid in the back room.  Kwame was rude and did not care about the condition of the cabin.  He stated "I have never been in this room before.  There are 900 cabins and I can't know what shape they are in." Clearly this set the tone for me.  No apology from him ever came. Last cruise on Royal for sure

Wonderful Cruise! by jlehewsr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

In some respects, this cruise was the best yet! It was our 13th cruise (NOT an unlucky number for me!). The food was great, but more importantly, the staff was wonderful; friendly, knowledgable, and just fun to be with.

I was able to tour the ship's background (behind the scenes, including the crew's quarters, the provisioning areas, the kitchens, the engine control room, and the bridge!). This was worth the trip in itself.

But, best of all, every show in the evening was entertaining, clean, well performed, and well-dressed. They were great!

Lovely week on Rhapsody of the Seas by GreatEscape

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We sailed January 21-28. The Rhapsody is a smaller and older ship, but it was in great condition and very clean. The smaller size was perfect for traveling with our 6-year-old child. The staff on this ship are amazing. The cruise director, "Dan Dan" is hysterical and makes everything fun along with the activities staff. We had great dinners in the dining room (minus one steak that was not the best cut of meat). I recommend making your dining reservations in advance. Our daughter enjoyed the visits she made to the kid's club. The evening shows were also very good. Perhaps it is because we had such incredible weather, but we really enjoyed our time on the Rhapsody. It was wonderful!
