Review summary

Nice cruise; food was the highlight. Note that if you buy the high speed internet package, it is not very "high" speed and drops a lot. Also, the TV programming is not very good. No new movies or good TV shows.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in both the main dining room and the buffet was FANTASTIC! We usually go to at least one specialty restaurant to have some "upscale" food, but didn't need to on this cruise. The selections were plentiful and care was taken to cook everything as specified (e.g., medium rare, etc.). The Tenderloin and Prime Rib were excellent, escargots every night on the "Classics" menu, which my husband loves and doesn't get too often! The buffet was outstanding! Our service was superb and we were treated like royalty in the dining room. We had a party of 8 at 5:30 each evening, so we had the same waiter and assistant waiter. If you didn't like something, it took very little time to get something else. We've been on a lot of Caribbean cruises, but the food on this ship was the best we've ever had.

Onboard Activities

Didn't really use them; should be an N/A here.

Entertainment

Didn't go to the shows

Service and Staff

Superb service from our room steward Ikomang Superb service from Shekhar and Raut, our waiter and assistant waiter.

Ship Quality

The s hip is just large enough to be comfortably walked end to end

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
For the first time we had an "oceanview" cabin (we usually do balconies or mini-suites, but the deal was excellent and we were traveling with 6 other people). It was very small, but plenty of storage space. We managed just fine. Did miss having the balcony, though! TV is awful; Internet (even on high speed) is spotty and drops a lot!

Ship tip

The casino is smoke-filled and smelly. If you gamble, you still have to pay for your drinks (unless you are a "premium" member), and if you take money out on your account, they charge you 5% to do it!! This left a very poor taste in my mouth, to say the least!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the "Taste of Mexico Cooking" excursion and had a blast! This excursion is so much fun and the food you cook is terrific!

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Nothing much to see here unless you do an excursion. No good shopping, drinks are expensive, souvenirs are junk.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the "Port Pass" and it was really a lot of fun and well worth the money. You go to 3 different venues (Chocolate factory, Tequila Factory, and Aviary with 8 hanging bridges over the port) for less than it cost to do all 3 separately. The port is beautiful and lots of shopping.

Glad you enjoyed it. We have always enjoyed the food in both the dining room and buffet on Royal Caribbean and are surprised about the negative reviews about the food variety and quality. I’m not sure what people are looking for to not enjoy the food on a cruise.

When using Royal C WiFi if your equipment does not support the newer 5ghz 802.11a or a/c band you will likely have problems. Many do not realize that they old 2.4 GHz 802.12 b/g/n band is very small and easily over crowded on a ship. The 5 GHz band has far more space. Most newer smartphones support both band but a lot of tablets and laptops do not still.
