Review summary

We decided on this cruise based on the ports, none of which we had visited before! Sure, there could have been a third sea day, bit still overall this itinerary was close to perfect! As our previous cruise was on the newest and biggest RCCL ship (Symphony OTS) we thought we would feel Rhapsody to be small and worn out. However we were very pleasantly surprised how well maintained and clean the ship was! Certainly some of the carpets and colour schemes are not the most recent style, but as there was no wear&tear it didn't matter.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The quality of food in Main dining and Windjammer buffer far exceeded my expectations! We had booked a package of 3 speciality restaurants and they all met (but didn't exceed) our expectations!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The gym was rather small and unlike our previous RCCL ships had no cafeteria next to it so no fresh fruit juices or protein shakes available.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
DJ was great as well as bands and musicians. I was surprise about the production shows, there was apparently no live band.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff on Rhapsody was very warm and friendly! They definately took their time to keep us happy!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Considering the age of the ship I was very positively surprised. While some of the design (mainly carpets) was a bit dated if was not worn out or unclean in any way.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were three adults in the suite, but it still felt spacious! The balcony was massive and had two sun loungers, altough due to the pool deck being the deck above there was really no direct sunlight to the balcony. The bathroom was very big for a cruise ship cabin. Also the perks of having a suite were very nice, especially the Suite lounge with Alan, the suite consierge who can make anything happen!

Ship tip

Great compact ship for a first timer to learn about Royal Caribbean!

Ports of call

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Very easy to walk from the ship to city center. Very easy to spend entire day just walking on your own.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
We did the Akropolis + Plaka RCCL tour, well worth the money and leaves you with plenty of free time to walk around on your own. The traffic is quite bad in Athens so wouldn't recommend tyring to make your way from Piraeus dock to central Athens on your own unless you are an experienced city traveller...

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece

5 out of 5
We did the ancient Olympia & winery tour, which was really nice. The pace was just right and after the tour we had over an hour to spend in Katakolon on our own before heading back to the ship.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
As suite guests we got to disembark first so we were able to get out of the way before the big masses.
