Overall, a fantastic cruise. We put a deposit on another one so from what we learned on this one, will put to good use on our next one.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We paid Princess to shuttle us to the dock to embark on our long awaited cruise. They were efficient, although had a little snafu with checking in. We had upgraded our cabin before we left home and the new cabin hadn’t been changed. Our luggage took a long time to get to our room and we had to go to guest services to get it straightened out. The ship uses a medallion instead of a credit card style and they were having problems getting it to work. I’m still on the fence with the medallion “key”, not sure if I like it yet.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the food immensely. We ate when we weren’t even hungry. Lol 😋The Horizon Buffet had a different theme almost daily and we were able to sample different dishes from around the world. Getting dressed up for formal nights felt like we were going to a “five “ star restaurant. Very elegant.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We didn’t really participate in any ship activities, but did hit the gym a few times. I enjoyed working out while enjoying the beautiful ocean.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The two shows we went to were wonderful. There was a lot of effort put into these productions and it was thoroughly enjoyable. One of the shows was a tribut to the Beatles. Wow! I thought I was going back in time. Really good!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
A+ service. All the staff were courteous, kind and very accommodating. Couldn’t ask for better service.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Regal Princess is a very big ship, holding 3,500 vacationers and 1,300 staff. While one of their biggest, I never felt like I was dodging people all the time. Never had any issues with cleanliness.
Cabin / Stateroom

We were glad we upgraded to a mini-suite. The average cabins are not super big to begin with, but paying for the extra room was worth it. Our girl, Hazel, was wonderful. Very sweet and kept our room clean all the time. She even helped me with a mini- emergency and found a safety pin for me.
Ship tip
If you are financially able, get a mini-suite. You’ll be glad you did.
The hotel we stayed at was kind of off the beaten path and didn’t have time to really explore the city. It was a nice hotel, very contemporary, clean lines, but we couldn’t really walk to any fun places. Next time we’ll pick a different hotel.
We took a bicycle excursion, which was ok. We are cyclists and felt we really didn’t go very far. Some of the beach scenery was beautiful. Princess provided a barbecue, which was pretty good.
We were on our own at this port. Toured a pirate museum, pricey but educational. Took a tram to the top of a hill and enjoyed some beautiful shots of the ocean and the marina.
We went on a snorkeling excursion with about 40 other people. The ocean was warm, wonderful, somewhat disappointed where they took us. No fish to speak of, at least colorful fish and they had us snorkeling in the same place where they had a diver research team right below us. Huh? The whole ocean and you put us above a bunch of divers? Were they taking pics of us? Did not like that at all. After we left there, they took us to a really nice beach to drink and soak in the sun. They did supply us with plenty of alcohol, although our food consisted of a pretty sparse sandwich. And we each got only a 1/2 too. Probably would not pay for that one again. We had our own snorkel gear, so next time will do our own thing.
