Review summary

Overall we were very pleased with the ship and the cost value of the cruise. We enjoyed the "perks" we received both from (excursion $$$, shipboard credits) and from Princess (On Board Credits, Paid Gratuities, and a Specialty Dinner for 2) making our on board experience and anniversary most memorable.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Princess probably has one of the most seamless embarkations. Never any lines or hassle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We dined in the Horizon Court for Breakfast and Lunch. There was a bit of a lag in getting beverages served from time to time and there are few options for self serve. There were many choices for food but the layout was somewhat confusing and difficult to navigate The Crown Grille (Specialty Dining) was superb. The Main Dining was excellent with many choices and fabulous service.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I participated in Zumba and Line Dancing (for singles and couples). There were some games, and the entertainment for music was all excellent.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Zumba instructor was fabulous. He was young, energetic, professional and certified to teach. He had everyone join him in a small circle after each class to encouraged all to enjoy and work at their own pace and asked for feedback.

Piazza Atrium

5 out of 5

Most activities were held in the Piazza Atrium which is like a grand ballroom. There was almost constant activity either there or on the 2 floors above where all could be enjoyed from any of those floors.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was very good and we had outstanding service from a few ship personnel in particular. We had an issue that we brought to the attention to guest services and, not only was it addressed, but they went above and beyond to make sure it was resolved and even sent chocolates to our room. Our Dining Room waiter was superb. He went to great lengths to make sure my husband, a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, always had something he would like and that it was cooked exactly the way he liked it. We celebrated our 52nd anniversary on this cruise and they went above and beyond to acknowledge it from balloons and a posting on our cabin door, the usual song and lovely cake at dinner and our very own waiter singing his rendition of Petula Clark's "This Is My Song." It was all so very personal and endearing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Regal has some 4,000 or so passengers and is the largest and newest ship we have been on but it never seemed to large or to crowded and we saw many of the same people over and over. The drawback on the Regal is that the atrium only goes 3 stories and you it was difficult to maneuver to get to the Allegro Dining without getting confused when trying to use the stairs.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable with good storage. The drawers in the nightstand were difficult to open and shut. The balcony was comfortable and the room was clean.

Ship tip

They have an APP called "Princess At Sea" which I would suggest loading. It allows for you to see what the entertainment choices are for the day and send those you are interested to your own calendar. It also shows the location of each venue for ease of navigation. I also used it to keep track of my account which was "up to the minute" in posting.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island) Did not visit port

Although the Island looked inviting, the weather was a deterrent. We are from Florida so going ashore in marginally good weather was not a big deal. Many did go ashore which left us with the ability to enjoy a less crowded ship and pool area.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Given that the Island had just recently opened back up due to the devastation of 2 hurricanes, they were in pretty good shape although some shops had just gone back up on power that day. It was a busy port due to being one of the few ships could visit, with 5 cruise ships including the largest, RC Allure of the Seas with some 7,000 passengers. We took a Mountain and Beach tour which was excellent - taking us 1,547 feet to the top of "Mountain Top" which showed views on both sides of the Island (one overlooking the famous Megan's Bay; the other overlooked the Caribbean side and the ships at port)

St. John's, Antigua

The Island was in good shape for having just withstood the hurricanes. We opted not to do an excursion as they were a good distance away and had been to many of the attractions already. We simply walked around town, which was difficult to maneuver, visited shops and a restaurant for the purpose of connecting on the Internet.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We "flew" through the disembarkation with no problems and were off the ship with luggage in less than 30 minutes.
