Review summary

Overall the Regal Princess is a beautiful ship that has all the amenities that one would expect from a luxury cruise line. The ship was more concerned about their upcoming conversion to the Ocean Medallion brand that they are instituting next week. The people on this cruise were the guinea pigs for all of the glitches in the system. We had no TV for 5 days. Toilets did not flush, We suffered through rehearsal of the dance troupe's flag exercise. We had Jack hammering at 0700 two days. If you want to book a future cruise on board, forget it, the cruise consultant is so busy you cannot get in to talk to him. All in all, though, when they get this Ocean Medallion going it will be great, however, I felt like we paid for it. Princess gave us on Board credit for our trouble, but I could have done without the credit and got a smoother experience. This is a beautiful ship and if you are choosing a cruise this is one to go on.

Embarkation

We boarded the Ship in Brooklyn, tough to get to but once you are there it moved quickly and you are on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food choices were disappointing. The menu is loaded with Pork products. Too much. If you do not eat pork you do not have a lot of choices. This applies to the buffets and the dining room. I found it very difficult to see a pig every day on the carving boards.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were 3 pools on the ship one was 3.5 feet One was ranging from 5'8" to over 7', I am six feet tall and found it difficult to stand in the pool. They need to do something about it. The Gym was state of the art and not busy at any time of the day. It was open from 0500-2100 daily. Bring your own headphones and entertainment device.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The shows are great but short. The Bigger issue is you need to be in the theater 45 minutes before the show to get a seat. Safety of the performers and the guests are not of concern for Princess. People with scooters, walkers and wheel chairs block the aisles and the dancers have to dance around them and if there si an emergency everyone in the theater dies because they cannot get past these devices

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The people that live and work on the ship cannot do enough for you. They fall all over themselves to make you have a great experience. Do not go to the front desk, the customer service people on the ship are not exactly the friendliest, but they will definately help you

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The lay out and the additional staircase makes a difference. Every area of this ship is immaculate. It is just beautiful

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a cabin upgrade to R403 mini suite. it was clean comfortable had a bathtub and 2 TV's. the steward was excellent. We did not have TV for 5 days. There was a technical problem. We were not happy

Ship tip

Make sure you have all of your papers in order. Be patient, you will have a great experience

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

2 out of 5
This is a crappy port with aggressive cab drivers, bad sidewalks and just difficult to walk around in. It is dingy and I do not feel safe in this port. I do not expect to be assaulted but it is unsafe to walk around in.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
This is an average Carribbean port

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
nice clean friendly safe port. Not much to do but beautiful to visit with nice people.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We were in the first group. It is the usual push a thon with people just trying to get off the boat. The walk off is supposed to handle their own bags, and if they cannot they ask strangers to lug their bags and tyie up the process.

Thanks for the input. We are on this ship in February. Hopefully all the kinks will be taken care of with the ocean medallion. Can't wait, very excited. This is our first cruise.

Thank you for your review! I was wondering how the first few sailings with the medallion roll out were going. We are sailing in 19 days, no medallions but looking forward to the Regal and all her beauty!!🛳💗

I appreciate your review as it seems very balanced showing the good and the bad. We will be on this ship in February and it’s our first time on Princess, so hopefully the kinks will be worked out by then. I’m a bit worried about so much pork on board because that is the one meat I don’t eat, but hopefully there will be plenty of other options to try.

I’m so sorry your experience, wasn’t as good as you hoped. You should not have been inconvenienced, because of the Ocean Medallion, changes were going on. You should not have had to deal with toilets not flushing, and no tv. Cruisers need their downtime, at night. I’m sad to hear that you didn’t enjoy your food. I had heard from other cruisers, that it was great 😢.
