Review summary

Princess really has the cruising experience down. They thought of everything. One great feature is Princess@sea, a free webtool, where you can have your schedule, account and venue details right on your phone. You can also message other cruisers, all for no charge. The ship was beautiful and the staff was great. Food was good too.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The road leading to the ship and the loading area had a lot of traffic at 1:00pm (my scheduled boarding time). But once parked ($25 per day now), there was almost no line for check in and embarkation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was delicious, and the drinks were plentiful and very good. I wish they had more of a selection of wine in the price range for the premium beverage package though.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
More than enough activities for all tastes.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedian was exceptional. Saw him twice. Heard the broadway show and music was also good. I didnt go to those.

Children's Programs

I did not bring a child.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All of the ships staff were really wonderful. Very pleasant and helpful. My cabin steward was the best! The staff at the restaurant was exceptional. I had club class dining, so I didnt have to wait in the cue. Had a chef, Juli, who cooked one special dish for the club class. Juli was great! The reason I gave only 4 stars is because of the overselling of items by the staff. I have been on many cruises before and have had many staff suggest things I may purchase. However, on this ship, the selling was so excessive, it actually interfered with some of my meals and enjoyment. Not cool.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship. Excellent design, and very clean. Sometimes a little confusing to get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin was a club class mini suite. I thought it was perfect. Princess had nice amenities, and an excellent on demand television, so I could watch whatever I wanted. However, I could hear the people in the rooms next to me (this does not bother me, but it may bother others). The room also had very few outlets (none by the bed). But it was a beautiful and very spacious room, included a separate sitting area and a large balcony. The room also had a walk in closet, and full bathtub with shower.

Ship tip

I'm guessing that the average age of the cruisers on this ship are over 60. I am 55 and felt that the crowd was a little old for me. In fairness, I sailed in October when school is in session, but the ship didn't really have much for children. There was some late night activities and late food available. There are other cruise lines that also have less activities for children, but still seem to draw a younger crowd.

Ports of call

New York, New York

My hometown. I love it. Just don't eat in the tourist areas. The food is terrible and overpriced there.

Saint John, New Brunswick

Wonderful friendly people. Not much to do here outside of the Reversing Rapids and Bay of Fundy. Just fine for my purposes though (I was more about the ship activities on this cruise.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

I actually didn't leave the ship for this port. However, I have been here before, and found the people and the town to be a lot of fun. Again, not a ton of stuff to do here. Great for me though because I really wanted to enjoy the ship.

Disembarkation

It was great. Hardly any line leaving the ship and at immigration.
