Review summary

This cruise was for my husband, I really wasn't bothered. I'm a hopeless sailor and thought it would be full of people 'not like us'. So I said if I was cruising I wanted a mini suite with space to escape to. Didn't need it! We had such a great break, the best service, wonderful food (8lb more of me came home!) and lovely company. My expectations were low, maybe that's why I was so impressed, I don't know. We got home yesterday and went straight down to town and picked up some brochures for our next cruise. We are a couple in our 50's and recent empty-nesters, and this was a lovely trip for us to relax and reconnect. The only negatives I have are in the destinations themselves, as they're very touristy and I suspect they see the cruise ships and rub their hands in anticipation of such a large captive audience. For us it was all about the ship, the facilities, the staff and passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had club class and we loved it.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
As much or as little as you want.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn't do too much by choice, but enjoyed formal nights, dancing lessons and a food talk. We would have enjoyed a star gazing night but it was sadly cancelled due to the weather. And Movies Under the Stars was fun.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
100% were great. Our head waiter and steward were particularly impressive. I liked tha everyone had a badge on with their name and nationality.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Our steward was wonderful and kept our space beautifully clean and tidy. I'm an early riser and in the early morning the decks would be washed down, and all day you'd see people round and about cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We chose mid ship to reduce the likelihood of my seasickness (I didn't have any) and were very pleased with the stateroom. It had a walk In wardrobe, small but clean bathroom with decent storage, a seating area with desk, sofa and chair, and the bed. We made friends with some people staying in a suite which had a better balcony and more space, and a better bathroom, but we were very satisfied with the mini.

Ship tip

If you want to have the special behind the scenes tour that cost a whopping $150, book it when you get on, it's very popular. We didn't get to do it but met people who had, and were blown away by it as they got to see the kitchens, print room, laundry etc.

So half to agree. We are recent empty nesters too and no the feeling. Our kids joined us on 6 cruises and love it. Now it's time for us. And have 2 upcoming back to back. Can't wait
