Good relaxing way to arrive in Hawaii with your body clock not jarred as much. I enjoyed sea days and the Pacific was nice not rocking and rolling. The stops along the way allowed us a great introduction to the Hawaii islands and the folks that call this their home.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was a bit hectic as there were two Royal Carribean ships departing for two different destinations. In fact, we learned later 10 luggage bags that were meant for the other destination ( I think Alaska) ended up on our ship and our first stop was five days later in Maui.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We ate most of our meals in the dining room and that was due to portion sizes. The frustrating thing is the selection was not up to Royal Carribean's standards from past cruises. Selection was not varied much. The food was good and we still ended up gaining weight!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We walked most every venue, read books, visited the Soliarum ( in the past this area was restricted to adults only now there are set hours for family), and attended only one evening show. During the day for a few mornings, there was a informative talk on our destination, Hawaii by Quintin. That talk, and later his music (together with his partner) were very relaxing.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Did not care for many of their offerings. Only attended one American's Got Talent performance and that performance was good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Dining and cabinet attendant provided excellent service. They learned our preferences quickly and we never had to ask for anything after the first night.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This is an older ship that is due for dry dock clean up.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The inside cabin was adequate for our needs. The only issue was the bathroom often and an offensive odor akin to sewage at different times. I had to spray the room before morning showers, and before brushing teeth, makeup, etc.
We have been to Vancouver several times before so what we did was visit Lonsquid Maket in which is across the river from where the cruise ship terminal, approximately 45 minutes by cab (this extended time was due to traffic near the roads leading into the cruise terminal. That area was a complete mess.
Did a dinner cruise, the Polynesian Culture Center, visited the Lolani Place, of course the beach (many, many times). We really enjoy Oahu but it's expensive! If you love your vegetables and fruits, be prepared to pay a lot for this and milk products.
