Review summary

The Radiance is showing her age, but is still a nice vessel. Usual amenities. Very similar to cruises on other lines. They could use a few more center elevators as there always seemed to be quite a wait, but not intolerable. Spa service was good, but beware of a discount promotion for their "Vitality Spa" that is not very clear. The promotion does not mean the whole ship spa, in the fine print it refers to only certain spa treatments.

Service and Staff

My travel companion and I are both visually impaired (she is totally blind and I have low vision) and we requested a basic orientation to the ship. Upon our arrival, they had a staff person walk us around several decks and provided a general orientation. This really helped and saved having to ask many people many questions on what and where.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Best prices for Kaluha and other spirits, vanilla and silver were in the shopping area just off the ship. We went into town and found no cheaper prices for those items, but did find stores that had outstanding prices for jewelry and watches. Found a watch that is $250 or more anywhere else on the Internet and there was listed for that, but was able to talk them down to $200. On the negative side, some of the national parks on the ocean charge over $20 just to get in and go to their beach.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

In port prices not as good as Cozumel but still good variety. Most excursion attractions are at least a half hour drive so don't expect to get many places by taxi - book an excursion or just shop in the area near the pier. Once you leave that area, not much to the town itself.

Pros: Got a balcony for under $80 per night

Cons: Limited variety of table games in casino, also, only one $6 blackjack table
