Review summary

While the ship itself was absolutely incredible, the same cannot be said about the staff, food, entertainment or onboard activities. It was very disappointing.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation at Adelaide was smooth and quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We didn’t use any of the specialty restaurants. The main dining room and buffet food was what i would call average compared to food on the P&O and Celebrity ships.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
While there was quite a few activities they were mostly directed towards the older cruisers on the ship. Lawn bowls, croquet, very small golf chipping area, giant chess board, paddle tennis, jigsaw puzzles, library, ballroom dancing, dancing lessons. There was no activities for children except for the pools.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The shows were very average compared to P&O and Celebrity, which have full on variety shows and guest performers that suits all ages. The performers on the Queen Elizabeth were more directed at the the older guests. There was only on show that was able to cover all ages on the ship and that was the Beatles Experience. They were really good.

Children's Programs

I had no children on board.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The staff on the Queen Elizabeth were terrible. Very inattentive. On all my other cruises (11 in total) the staff always approached you to see of you needed a drink or if there was anything they could do for you. On the Queen Elizabeth you had to go looking for staff and even then they didn’t see to want to be there. They didn’t smile or greet you with any enthusiasm. While the room steward did his job, that’s all he did. There was no special touches like coming into your room and finding an animal made out of towels and your bed turned down with a chocolate on the pillow. He neglected to restock the mini bar which was supposed to be done on a daily basis.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I cannot fault the layout, design or cleanliness of the Queen Elizabeth. She is a beautiful ship. The most glorious ship I’ve been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabins was of good size with a large window. The bed was a king size bed with king size pillows and was very comfortable. As with all cruise ships the bathroom was very small but serviceable. There was plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The mini bar was well stocked but wasnt restocked until we asked the steward to restock it. It had a lounge to sit on as well as a desk.

Ports of call

Adelaide, Australia

4 out of 5
We love Adelaide. It’s such an easy city to get around in. We didn’t do an excursion. We just wandered around by ourselves.

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

4 out of 5
Hobart is incredible. So full of history. Again we chose not to do an excursion but to wander around the city on our own.

Melbourne, Australia

3 out of 5
We chose to stay on board the ship.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It was okay. We opted for the self help disembarkation. When we went to the pursers desk he didn’t seem to know what was going on with disembarkation.
