Review summary

Passenger jumping Overboard and being lost at sea was the only down on a fantastic cruise.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Brisbane's new cruise terminal is a big improvement on the old one but is still well behind. Someone from Queensland needs to go look at Ft Ladurdale to see how to do it right.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Like all cruise ships RCCL is having supply issues that are restricting some of their meal offerings but unless you knew this you would not realise. Quality was fantastic but would be great if RCCL repeated the menu on a longer loop. 7 days is a bit short on a 17 night cruise.

Windjammer Marketplace

4 out of 5

Need to renam this to the Food Jammer. The new post covid layout works, never encountered a line for food like I have on some cruises and the quality was great.

Chef's Table

5 out of 5

Without a doubt the best meal I have ever eaten, with fantastic service.

Chops Grille

5 out of 5

Great food with good service without the noise you get in most cruise restraunt

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

Somehow we ended up here every night regardless of where we started. I think it has its own gravitational pull. The young lass on the piano was fantastic.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of options for things to do so didn't run out in 17 days. Sadly I am too tall for the iFly but that's not their fault.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was very good with the standout being the young lass on the piano who managed to come up with 3 different shows every night for 17 nights. Sadly no big stage show but not the end of the world.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The reason my wife and I keep coming back to RCCL. Staff are the best. Sadly we had a Man Overboard 2 night out of Hawaii and a passenger was lost, but as someone who works with Coast guard in search and rescue the staff were quick and efficient in launching rescue operations. They did everything correctly but at night this was an impossible task.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Nothing I could fault. Ship was in very good condition and spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The location of cabin 13260 was perfect. Extra large balcony without being windy.

Ship tip

Make sure you take the drinks package. The cost of a drink + gratuities + conversion from USD = about $20 per drink.

Ports of call

Brisbane, Australia

3 out of 5
Love Brisbane but the Port area is not pretty and a pricy taxi ride from anywhere.

Cross International Dateline

3 out of 5
Great if it lets you celebrate your birthday twice but otherwise a bit of a non event.

Papeete, Tahiti

3 out of 5
Nice people. Hot and very humid. Bloody expensive because everything is imported. Sunset on a black sand beach with my wife was worth the trip.

Moorea, French Polynesia

3 out of 5
Beautiful island. You can tour the whole island in 3 hours and the local operators are ready good and a lot cheaper then tours offered by cruise lines. Swimming with sharks and stingrays is a must do and will set you back about $50 USD per person.

Honolulu, Oahu

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Disembarkation

This went to hell with a large number of passengers deciding to carry their own bags off the ship and foul up the process for everyone.
