Review summary

We did the 7 night spice of south east asia. The ship had a lot of Australians, English and other European/UK places. Not too many Chinese as per other reviews. We were really happy with it, enjoyed the onboard activities like the bumper cars and evening shows. Everything was clean and constantly kept clean. Drinks were a bit hit and miss depending on the bar you went to. It was our first RCI cruise and we'd do another.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Booked the 10.30am spot and we found it very straightforward and organised. Arrived and dropped off luggage, went up to check in, were given our boarding group and then at about 11.40am we were called up and went through.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was ok, nothing amazing, but you'll find something you like or will be happy enough to eat. Most cuisines are covered and if you have any dietary requirements they do take good care of you in the main dining room.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lots to do, lines move pretty quickly. Managed to do ifly and northstar for free. I'd happily pay for ifly but I don't think northstar is worth a fee. Shows in the evening were ok.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Some shows were great, others not. The starwater show I was underwhelmed by

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were fantastic and did whatever they could to help.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship had recently been refurbished during dry dock so it was looking nice and fresh

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Really happy with the room, plenty of room to move about and lots of storage. Hanging space in both wardrobes on either side of the couch plus draws on the one on the right. Draws under the bench. Kettle and fridge in the room. Balcony isn't huge but had 2 chairs and foot rests.

Ship tip

It was busy in the Windjammer on sea days but otherwise pretty easy to get a table at breakfast. We at in the dining room every night but the dinners looked good

Spent 4 nights there before the cruise.. could have done a couple more after the cruise as there is so much to see.

Penang (Pulau Pinang), Malaysia

4 out of 5
Free city bus to get you around was good. Lots of cheap shopping at the markets

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Took a bit longer to get off and go through Immigration but was happy enough with the process. You didn't have to be out of your cabin until 9am which was good as our disembark time was 9.20 and others in the group 9.40am
