7 Night Hawaii (Honolulu Roundtrip) Sail Date: November 13, 2006 Ship: Pride of Hawaii Cabin Type: Suite Reviewed: 10 years ago
What a waste of a lot of money. This is a terrific, brand new ship with all the amenities you're willing to pay for...except for the main thing on a cruise:customer service/hospitality
Food and Dining

The food was merely "buffet" quality in the main restaurant.Concern for norovirus undoubtedly drove management's decision to wrap the food stations in saran wrap to prevent customers from touching food.A legit concern,of course, but at least have trays to carry every plate cup and utensil that the server has to hand to you separately at each station.Lots of spills and breakage. The "cover charge" restaurants were nice, but I didn't like the idea of paying extra for meals you've already paid for,the service there and ,especially the reservation system(everyone gets hungry about the same time...long lines, pager issued,45 min-1 hour wait.

On board, not much to write about.Off ship excursions were a rip off: over priced and boring.A 40 minute paddle around in an outrigger to a yawner narrative for 120 bucks? A $40 shuttle to Lahaina when it's a free shuttle the next day?We finally chartered a fixed-wing ,great tour of Kauai at the airport for $100 each...way,way better than a helo tour at three times the price.
Service and Staff

This was the biggest surprise. The American staffed ship seemed to be young people who thought this was going to be THEIR party boat and they seemed put out at requests for service(which I didn'think I should have had to request)

The ship was brand, shining new and very well laid out, with easy access to everything.
