6 of the days were fantastic ... the one alternate day at sea was not. I like this cruise because it does not have any full days at sea. by Abballcoach

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Pride of America

We took this same cruise 12 years ago and the ease of getting a car rental at every island was fantastic. In addition, the ability to have the car in a secure parking lot near the ship was very good and efficient. 12 years later it is anything but that. The only port that was organized for your onboard customers was in Kauai where at least the car rental agencies had a shuttle like 12 years ago. In addition, we had the ability to leave the car overnight close by. The way you run this part of the trip now is not good & not set up for your customers on the ship. The trip & time on each island is short already. Why is is not managed like it was on my prior NCL cruise makes no sense. How management accepts going backwards for its customers on total time on the islands makes no sense to me.

BUMMER by LONGARCH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

My group all booked thru the same cruise.com travel agent. We informed him we were traveling 4 other family members. He booked us into side by side rooms which was fine but he failed elsewhere. On the second day of the cruise we realized the agent had us on different excursions. The point of our trip was to be with elderly family members, but the luau ended up costing double as cruise.com refused to refund our cancelation. I will never book through a third party and particularly not with cruise.com again, but I will always book directly with the cruise line. Cruise.com was just another hand out for additional expenses...just another middleman.

Not wheelchair/smoker friendly by meshippin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Not at all wheelchair friendly. Not enough area for smokers. This is the walmart of cruises. Not turn down service. Restaurants were closed. NCL circle the island/ airport drop off was a nightmare from beginning to end. I love my travel agent Kathy, but this trip missed the point. I will still always use her.

I enjoyed the cruise by jillmartin69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

It started off on a sour note because of having to pay an additional $600.00 to add our middle name to the reservation. I found out that it was unnecessary and I would like to get my money back.

The best way to see many of the Hawaiian Islands by krause2house

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Most of the ports you dock in the container shipping port, so what you see is not very picturesque. Excursions are expensive.

Enjoyable Hawaiian Cruise by niaw1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Overall, it was a wonderful cruise. We do feel that NCL's Pride of America was overpriced as compared to some of the other NCL cruises. This was our 4th cruise with NCL.

Perfect Sampler by hallsalina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

It was a great 4 island overview of the Hawaiian Islands. So much culture, flora and fauna, lifestyle, geography, and food to enjoy, learn and soak up. This was an excellent sampler! Would love to go back and spend more time.

Below Average by CruiseALot65871

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

Nice cruise in theory, islands are beautiful. Ship is no frills, employee morale and engagement low. Very short-staffed. Not many activities to enjoy. Very low budget effort. Possible need for leadership change or company investment.

Ok Hawaiian cruise by ipavlenk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

I wish service and food would be better. The app works only as Wi-Fi and will not work with cellular. That was very frustrating. There was no reminders about Upcoming reservations (dinner, excursions, spa).

NCL First and last time cruiser. One and done-will not cruise again. by jmkoop

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America

A planned trip should not required 4 flights to get to Honolulu. That made the start of the trip very challenging and exhausting. No one from the travel agent nor Norwegian would do anything to rectify the flights other than continue tell us that it was in their rights to be able to schedule this way. Very disappointing. Will not cruise again.

Best way to see a lot of Hawaii by futurepest

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America

This is hands down the best way to experience Hawaii if you've never been & want to get an idea of which islands you might like to visit in the future. It's hard to beat any of the islands, but you sure can get a taste for what you might want to spend more time on in the future.

Hawaiian Cruise by ksipes03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Great way to see all the islands at once. A little pricey, but worthwhile. Wish the service was a little better for all that you pay for this cruise.

Disappointing, understaffed cruise by mpdalaska

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The price of the cruise was steep to begin with and then it seemed like everything cost extra- drink packages (only include 3 liters of water), basic tip prices elevated after Dec. 31 if not prepaid, movies on the TV, room service ($9.95 charge each time), etc. The ship was full of passengers but severely undermanned, as explained by the captain in a letter. Some of our dining room waiters had little or no training. The best part of the cruise was the ease of embarking and disembarking. The weather was rainy six of the eight days, which was unexpected. Hawaii was gorgeous, from what we could see through the clouds and fog. We were surprised that we were unable to visit Kona. They were the only island without a dock and the captain decided that the seas were too rough for tenders. Who was punished more, the passengers or the Kona businesses?
