I have been on several cruises, my first with Norwegian. This is the perfect way to see Hawaii. There is a lot to see, was your time wisely because the time passes very quickly. The excursions are expensive. The helicopter is worth the money, you will not regret it. The helicopter tour will ask you to wear dark clothing so you wont get a reflection off the windows in your pictures. If you wear shorts which you will make sure to place something over your legs. I wore dark clothing but you can see the reflection of my legs in several pictures. It was an amazing cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was not amazing. Standard cruise line food. You can always find something to eat.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The activities were limited, but this was understandable since we were in a port most of the time and little time at sea which is one reason I booked this cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The stage shows were good. There was variety, not the same type of show every night. They had the dancers a couple of nights, an illusionist and a comedian.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The service staff was good. We did not see the room steward often but we were off the ship most of the time. The room was always neat and tidy. The waiters appeared to be in training. A lot of new staff in the restaurants.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
All areas were clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Our room was very small for 3 people but we adjusted. It was in a great location, close to the elevator, pool and restaurants. The room was clean.
Honolulu is very busy with crazy traffic. We did a private tour booked with our hotel. We toured the whole island stopped at food trucks, the beaches, Dole Pines, and much more. It was amazing. We did the Luau at the aquarium.
Maui may have been my favorite island. We used Temptation Tour Sky Land to Hana tour. It was amazing. The helicopter took us to the top of Road to Hana passed the volcano. We were greeted by the van driver and had lunch at the Black Sand beach before starting our ride down the road. The van driver was fantastic. The road back from Hana was amazing.
Hilo was good. We did the Volcano Park excursion with the cruise line. It was not what I expected but was interesting. We did see the steam coming from the vents of the volcano
Kona was a tender port. We were taken over in the tender boats. The port was easy to walk and shop. We did the Submarine excursion. It was fun going in the submarine.
This is a beautiful island. If you want to do a helicopter this is the place to do it. We did the helicopter tour. We saw areas you can only see by air. It was worth every the money. We also did the Grotto Fern tour. It was a river cruise to the fern gully. You are not allowed in the in the cave area so we were entertained on the deck just outside. The tour was ok. The guide tried very hard to improve the tour with the entertainment. They played instruments, sang and dance on the deck and on the return trip on the boat.
The cruise ship cruised along the Napali Coast port side with great narration, then turned starboard side for viewing. The Napali Coast was beautiful. No excursion while cruising the coast.
The Disembarkation was very easy. We left the ship early. We booked transportation to the airport with the cruise line. The 800 bus was late so we had to stand in line for 30 minutes or more. It would have been easier to take a taxi. They made it sound like taxis are limited, but they were plenty of taxis and no waiting. Take the taxi.
