An ok Cruise

Sail Date: August 25, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

Overall the cruise was average. First the good things - the ship is new and has all modern features. The port itineary was very good leaving sufficient time on all ports.
The service was pathetic. It seemed the staff did not care. While there was no rudeness or mistreatment - it was clearly different from other cruises we have experienced. There was no midinight buffet or special events. The food was ok. The entertainment was horrific. They had a magician (doing same tricks on 2 different occassions), a comedian (for 2 days) and dance show. There were hardly anything cultural about Hawaii and everything costs money including speciality restaurants. The shore excursions are mind numbingly expensive when Roberts Hawaii does it for half the price.

Pros: The ship was new and had all modern features

Cons: Service was poor

Recommends Pride of America? No.

National volcanoes - rainbow falls was let down. Remember - in Hawaii ports there is nothing - plan in advance. Even getting a taxi can costs a lot of money and there are no shuttles to tourist attractions
Don't Miss: volcanoes
Kahului, Maui

Don't Miss: beaches, snorkelling
